Every transport job has its own challenges, and at Matthews Transport, we pride ourselves on finding the right solution.

This week, we were entrusted with transporting a slurry tank, proudly manufactured by Abbey Machinery—one of Ireland's leading agricultural equipment manufacturers—to Dublin Port, where it will begin its journey to Canada. 🇮🇪➡️🇨🇦

The job was far from straightforward. The tank needed to be loaded onto a flat rack container so it could be safely lifted onto the vessel for export. However, transporting it on a standard skeletal or flat trailer would have left the load too high for Irish road regulations.

Using our extendable low loader, we were able to reduce the overall travelling height to 4.8 metres, ensuring the load could travel safely and legally. Once loaded onto the flat rack, the complete combination measured an impressive 22 metres in length.

From loading and unloading to route planning and escorting, the entire operation was carried out in-house by the Matthews Transport team.

With careful planning, the right specialist equipment, and an experienced team, we successfully delivered the load safely to Dublin Port this morning, ready for its voyage across the Atlantic.

Whether it's a standard delivery or a complex abnormal load, Matthews Transport has the experience, equipment, and expertise to get it there safely.

When a new contract landed on our doorstep earlier than expected, we needed trucks — and we needed them yesterday!

Thankfully, we knew exactly who to call. Our old friend Conor Jennings from Longhaul Commercials Tullamore came to the rescue and supplied us with two low-mileage Ivecos at very short notice.

The trucks were exactly as described, spotless, and ready to go straight to work.

A massive thanks to Conor and everyone at Longhaul Commercials for the quality used trucks, excellent service, and for helping us hit the ground running on the new contract.

Busy week at Matthews Transport this week — plenty of miles covered and a bit of sunshine to go with it ☀️🚛

Massive credit to the team, both behind the wheel and behind the scenes, for keeping everything running smoothly.

Now all we need is the Irish weather to behave itself for the weekend… but we won’t bank on that just yet!
