Saoirse O'Neill who works in our Eirtrans office, is asking for your support.

Last October, Saoirse's boyfriend Eoghan Gorman came off his mountain bike and suffered a horrific accident which has left him paralysed from his shoulders down.

Immediately after his accident, Eoghan was put into an induced coma and placed on a life support machine. For many weeks, he couldn't breathe by himself. He was told he might never come off a ventilator. But with determination and excellent medical care he did and he can now breathe unassisted. But he desperately needs your help.

When Eoghan comes home from the hospital in a few months, he is going to need round-the-clock care. His home will have to be adapted to cater for his many medical needs. And the cost of his ongoing care will run into hundreds of thousands of Euros.

As a high-achieving sportsman, Eoghan knows how to fight and he has done brilliantly so far. But now he is relying on our help. Saoirse and Eoghan's family are asking you to give as generously as you possibly can. Can we please ask you to visit Eoghan's page and contribute whatever you can:

We're really pleased to have had the opportunity to help our local community make a difference to the lives of people fleeing Ukraine.

This vanload load of essentials was put together by Parkceltic Summerhill FC and others in the local community. Many volunteers spent three days collecting, sorting, boxing, packaging, taping and labelling.

This was a major team effort, and many thanks to Louise Hayes for kicking it all off. Louise said:

"Hopefully this can bring some relief to people who are experiencing immeasurable suffering. I thought it would make me feel happy but I left feeling terribly sad knowing where our boxes were going. It is heartbreaking to wrap up nappies, baby formula and tiny clothes to send to a war zone."
