Hi Folks

The Truck Run 4 Katie Committee would like to update you all on the 2017 event.

Some of us were able to meet up last Saturday the 29th of September 2018 as we had an appointment to meet that day with the Clare Champion reporter and photographer so we could publicise the amount raised by Truck Run 4 Katie 2017. While the final figure may change we are happy to go public with the amount raised to date, a whopping โ‚ฌ 154,620.84 !!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘. This could go higher. Linda Lee Drennan arranged for the 'Big' cheque to be printed and we were able to display it to the Clare Champion photographer on Saturday. They will soon be doing a piece in the paper about the funds raised and how they will be utilised. This amount raised is a tribute to ye all, from the Truckers who took part in the Truck Run 2017 Event, everyone who very generously donated, to the schoolkids & other people who did many fundraising events, all too many to mention.

We are so proud of this achievement and we know Katie is smiling as the monies raised will go directly to purchasing much needed state-of-the-art medical equipment for Cystic Fibrosis patients. This process has already started. We recently provided the first of this equipment to the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit in the Leben Building at University Hospital Limerick. The procedure of acquiring further equipment for the Unit takes time and we ask for ye're patience. We want to get it right and if more time is whats needed, so be it, but it has to be right. We will keep you all updated as further equipment is sourced and purchased by the Truck Run 4 Katie Committee.

Again we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in the Truck Run 4 Katie 2017 event, the marshals, helpers, the Gardai, our supporters, anybody who contributed but especially the people of Clare who tolerated us taking over the roads last September for our truck run event. Many thanks indeed ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Great to let you know that the arrival of medical products to the Leben Building UHL, that we are purchasing from our 2017 Truck Run 4 Katie event, has finally started ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.
Sincere thanks to everyone who came along to partake in our weekend event, to those who helped us out, and everyone who donated to our charity before, during & after the event. All greatly appreciated.

Truck Run 4 Katie is delighted that today, the 23rd of August three of our Committee Members, John Maloney โ€“ Chairperson, Caroline Lucas โ€“ Secretary and Linda Lee Drennan โ€“ Treasurer met with Peig Harnett CF CNS at the Leben Building at the University Hospital Limerick (UHL) to start the process of donating some of the medical equipment that has been ordered from the money raised from our 2017 truck run event. These Fitbit Charge 2 (Heart Rate + Fitness Wristband) will aid all Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients who attend the Leben Building.

Linda Lee Drennan, Treasurer of Truck Run 4 Katie handed over the products to Mรกire Curran CF Physiotherapist who said โ€œFitbits are popular to track physical activity and are a great motivational tool to help people reach their exercise goals !! The โ€œFitbit Charge 2โ€ tracks steps, calories, distance travelled, and even heart rate and sleep. Our CF Physiotherapists will now be able to remotely monitor and evaluate exercise for people with CF. Our aim is to research the effectiveness of the Fitbits with remote monitoring for people with CF, and ultimately optimise physical activity, health and wellbeing.โ€

Truck Run 4 Katie is looking forward to the further medical equipment arriving, which we have already ordered, from the โ‚ฌ156,161.50 (including expenses) amount which we raised from our 2017 event.

We would like to most sincerely thank everybody who took part in our 2017 event and to all who donated to our charity (CHY 21597) which will benefit all the Adult Cystic Fibrosis patients who attend UHL.

Left to Right โ€“
Louise Collins CF Physiotherapist, Caroline Lucas Secretary, John Maloney Chairman, Mรกire Curran CF Physiotherapist, Derbhla Oโ€™Sullivan CF Dietitian, Linda Lee Drennan Treasurer and Peig Harnett CF CNS.
