International Plastics Exposition
Karnataka State Plastic Association (Regd) established in 1996, a Non-Profit Organization. The association has 600 members comprising of manufacturer’s, traders, vendors like mould & die makers, machinery manufacturers, raw material suppliers. The Plastic industry in Karnataka contributes huge amount of revenue to the Government ex-chequer in the form of central excise, customs, VAT, etc., (approximately 600 crores per annum) besides providing employment to more than 75000 people in our state. Our industries are primarily located in Bangalore Urban & Rural areas, Mangalore, Belgaum, Mysore & Hubli. There is some unit’s located at Bellary, Hospet. The major polymer products produced in Karnataka are used in food packaging, fertilizers, cement, pharmaceuticals, automotive, FMCG.
The KSPA activities are listed below :-
» Conducting awareness programmes among citizens on the usage of plastic products and their proper disposals
» We conducted live demos on Plastic Waste Management in public places and in 2012 a week long programme on Waste Management in Freedom Park , where in no. of elected reps as well as govt agencies, NGO’s, Builders participated. This programme was initiated by BMMP on the advice of Hon’ble Mr.Ananth Kumar MP and led the jatha from BBMP Office for creating awareness.
» KSPA is on the board of several govt agencies for assisting programmes & implementation of Plastic Waste Management across Karnataka.
» Recently along with support from Govt. Of Karnataka initiated tree plantations around industries in sub hubs to increase greenery and clean environment.
» Advising implementation of industrial policies pertaining to the plastic industries in association with FKCCI & KASSIA.
» Helping members through MSME to upgrade their operating capacities, attending international as well national plastic expositions with monetary benefits from VITC and MSME.
» KSPA is also advising the trader’s community on the prevailing rules on plastic waste management as well as not to encourage low grade plastic carry bags sales across the state.
» Conducting various seminars& technical sessions with support of RIL, IOCL & GAIL on the latest polymer products introduced in the market.
