ANOTHER SHIP ADRIFT OFF NL
Another large vessel went adrift off Newfoundland today, this is the second vessel.
The Canadian Coast Guard and Atlantic Kingfisher is current responding and towing the large container ship “MSC Kim” which was adrift off the coast for a few days.
The new ship ,bulk carrier ''MV Comanche” is fully loaded with Iron ore, the vessel was loaded in Sept-Iles Quebec and heading to the Suez Canal.
The vessel made a stopover in Placentia Bay for refuelling.
Currently the two tugs from Come by Chance, N.A. PETREL and N.A. OSPREY assisting, with the Canadian Coast Guard, CCGS CYGNUS supervising to tow operation.
Ship was built in: 2016, sails under the Marshall island flag, at 292 meters long and 45 meters wide with a Gross tonnage of 180882 DWT it is a fairly large vessel.
