FROM THE QUIET GROVES OF BALIGUDA TO THE HEART OF THE RATHAKHALA, THE 2026 RATH YATRA NOW CARRIES A PIECE OF KANDHAMAL’S SOUL.
The Kotgarh forest range under the Baliguda division dispatched 23 logs of premium Dhaura wood, a milestone that has stirred deep devotion throughout the region. The consignment was ceremonially flagged off by District Collector Vedbhushan and DFO Ghanashyam Mohanta, following traditional rituals and prayers offered by local devotees.
In Puri, the construction at Rathakhala is already moving at a rhythmic, traditional pace. Following the Akshaya Tritiya "Rath Katha Anukula," Maharana craftsmen have begun carving the "tumbas", the massive circular wheel axles.
While the heritage is centuries old, the infrastructure is modernizing rapidly; projects like the Jagannath Ballav pilgrim centre and the Matiapada overbridge are entering their final phases to welcome the influx of pilgrims.
