For the international community, the central lesson may lie in recognizing that sustainable order cannot be built solely through coercion or dominance. Stability ultimately requires legitimacy—an acceptance among diverse civilizations that the rules governing global interaction are fair and mutually respectful.

THE INDO-US TRADE DEAL: Recalibration Amidst Tariff Wars, More Transactional than Transformational

The newly announced trade deal between the US and India promises commercial relief but more needs to be done to heal the rupture in bilateral ties. Analysts in the US pronounced the US-India deal as lacking strategic depth.

The deal is transactional, not transformational, said Danny Russel, a former senior US State Department official who served in the Obama administration. “It stabilizes the relationship, but it doesn’t rebuild strategic confidence is what he stated. He went on to state that “Trump’s approach has taught India – and many US partners – that today’s Washington is unreliable. The rational response isn’t closer alignment, it is hedging and reducing exposure to US pressure”.

The US–India Trade Deal: A Strategic Pivot or Tactical Detente?

Not every agreement marks a strategic pivot. Some exist to stabilise pressure and foster détente. The US–India trade deal announced on 3 Feb 2026 belongs in that category. VENEZUELA: The GRAVE IMPLICATIONS Globally

They draw attention, but not enough influence to change behaviour. Moves are constant, outcomes uncertain. Authority is exercised, but rarely owned. In this geopolitical circus, new power centres and multi-engagement have taken center stage.
Global politics in 2025 function as a loop of motion without resolution. Power is exercised constantly, statements are issued relentlessly, crises are managed in public view, yet outcomes remain thin.
