CS Conversations

CS Conversations DI Conversations underscores the essence of discussions as central to organised growth & development. Over the years, we have pioneered a number of FIRSTS!

TourismFirst is a thought sharing platform, in print, digital and events formats. It embraces the wider picture for tourism in the country, connecting the tourism vertical to developments in national economy, industry, society and culture at large. It underlines the fact that a wide cross section of stakeholders exist outside of hotels, airlines, and travel agents – and brings them into the larger

fold of tourism. It believes that the tourism product of India, what is uniquely India, needs to be identified, nurtured, developed and promoted. It seeks to integrate this product into one seamless experience. TourismFirst believes that Tourism links people and countries of the world. It is a passport to peace, prosperity and goodwill among nations. It fosters linkages in culture including arts and cuisines, and also promotes the world of exhibitions and conferences and unique discoveries of lifestyle through events. TourismFirst brings together the concerns of airlines and airports, hotels and resorts, cities and states, countries and people – as part of the larger tourism process. It represents over 40 years of engagement of our company in this field – the publishers, Cross Section Media, have been leaders in tourism communications holding a number of firsts in the business. We started India’s first ever B2B travel mart, in 1994 and over 18 years, till 2011 we had hosted over 4500 international buyers from over 50 countries worldwide. We brought to India’s tourism industry its FIRST seminar, in 1976; the FIRST industry tabloid Travel Trends Today, in 1986; among others.

Afghanistan–P**istan Clashes Have No Easy Solutions
by Maj Gen Jagatbir Singh, VSM (Retd) and Maj Gen VK Singh, VSM (Retd)

As border tensions escalate, accusations fly on both sides.
Since the Taliban’s return in 2021, P**istan has blamed Afghanistan for sheltering the TTP, while Kabul accuses Islamabad of airstrikes on its soil — including the capital, Kabul.
The clashes reveal how fragile the region’s balance remains, and how India’s improving ties with the Taliban could shift dynamics further.

China’s Military Parade: Major Implications for India
by Major General Jagatbir Singh, VSM (Retd) and Major General VK Singh, VSM (Retd)

The Indian defence establishment must replay the parade again and analyse the display with microscopic perception. This is what we are up against! Exactly where do we stand? Need to weigh our own capability with what was shown, so that we can counter each and every weapon system. A deep study is also required to appreciate our security situation in case these same weapon systems are deployed in P**istan. There is far too much to take away from this parade and should not be brushed away in a perfunctory manner.

Is South Asia’s Gen Z Uprising a Sign of Democratic Resurgence or Just a Tipping Point of Frustrations?
by Lt Gen A B Shivane, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (RETD)

South Asia is facing a tsunami sparked by the passions, frustrations and ambitions of a generation whose reasoning and demands cannot be placed in the boxes of old political patterns. No storm in Nepal shook the established order like the September 2025 riot did, not with a visible revolt but deep down a fundamental frustration of poor governance and corruption. Inspired and linked as never before, young people marched with the conviction that their very identity and dignity now demand recognition and legitimacy by the state.
