We celebrate Diwali ๐ช the Festival of Lights, to mark the *victory of light over darkness*, *good over evil*, and *knowledge over ignorance*. The reason for celebration can vary by region and belief:
1. *Return of Lord Rama*
In most parts of India, Diwali celebrates *Lord Ramaโs return to Ayodhya* after 14 years of exile and his victory over the demon king *Ravana*. People lit diyas (lamps) to welcome him home.
2. *Goddess Lakshmiโs Blessings*
Itโs believed that on Diwali night, *Goddess Lakshmi*, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, visits clean and well-lit homes to bless the family.
3. *Lord Krishna and Narakasura*
In some regions, Diwali celebrates *Lord Krishna's victory over the demon Narakasura*, symbolizing the defeat of evil.
Spiritually:
Itโs a time to:
- Cleanse your surroundings and inner self
- Forgive, forget, and start anew
- Celebrate with family, lights, sweets, and gratitude
