Bollywood’s beloved actress Himani Shivpuri has taken a step far greater than her roles on screen — she has adopted her ancestral village, Bhatwadi, in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. With deep affection for the mountains of her childhood, she is now working with quiet determination to revive the village’s livelihood, spirit, and culture. 🏞️✨
Today, Bhatwadi is inhabited mostly by women, children, and the elderly, as many men migrate in search of work. The village struggles with limited healthcare and scarce educational opportunities. To address these challenges, Himani has initiated ambulance services and is introducing plans for organic farming, livestock management, women’s skill training, local handicrafts, and even products made from cow dung. Through these efforts, she is creating sustainable livelihoods that will empower residents to remain in their village, thrive, and preserve their traditions. 🌱
