Dear Members,

In today's meeting with members, Officials informed as below:-

1. No Hazardous Cargo will be accepted in future for .

2. The Cargo, which has already arrived , if the Bill of entry is already filed, the same may be allowed to be customs cleared at TKD. However, the cargo for which bill of entry is not yet filed, Concor will shift the cargo either to or as per consignee confirmation. The shifting of cargo will be done at Concor's cost.

3. For cargo in transit or on water, amendment in for clearance at Dadri or Khatuwas will be allowed and cargo to cleared at either of these location by customers as per their confirmation.

/ notice to this effect is expected soon from Concor/Customs, which will be shared with member, immediately upon receiving.

NYK LINE, Mitsui Osk Lines and K-Line Shipping Company !

The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) has rejected the merger by , and of their container shipping operations saying it does not have jurisdiction to approve it.

The three Japanese shipowners had filed a tripartite agreement with the US shipping regulatory body to approve the forming of a joint container service.

“The Shipping Act does not provide the Federal Maritime Commission with authority to review and approve mergers. After careful consideration, the Commission determined that parties to the Tripartite Agreement were ultimately establishing a merged, new business entity and that action is among the type of agreements excluded from FMC review.

As an agreement creating a new merged business entity approval would be required from the US Department of Justice.

The tripartite agreement would have allowed the three lines to share information from 8 May ahead of the proposed new entity – a joint venture container line – being formed next year.

NYK, MOL and K Line plan to merge their container shipping operations, in a move dubbed J3, from 2018, and are already cooperating as members of THE Alliance along with Hapag-Lloyd AG, United Arab Shipping Company and Yang Ming Line, which started operations on 1 April this year.

Railway lines have also taken a diversified approach to managing freight in response to the Hanjin fallout. Some have continued to load Hanjin shipments while others have refused to accept shipments.

Misplaced chassis could potentially cause equipment shortages throughout the supply chain. As many as 5,000 Hanjin containers with chassis were 'on the streets' as of yesterday.

The storage of empty Hanjin containers has also become a concern for the shipping community. Some terminals have stated they will not accept empty Hanjin containers while other terminals have designated a specific area at the terminal to store the empties.

At least three vessels have been 'arrested' in Singapore and China and numerous more have been denied entry to terminals around the globe.

According to the Marine Exchange of Southern California, four Hanjin vessels were in the San Pedro harbor on Thursday. Two were drifting near the ports, one was at anchor and another was approaching the port complex.

Hanjin Shipping Faces Bankruptcy

Hanjin Shipping, South Korea’s largest carrier, is headed for liquidation unless it can recover its finances following the latest debt relief programme, Maeil Business South Korea reports.

In a press conference on Wednesday August 10, 2016, Yim Jong-yong, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, said: “If it cannot combat liquidity woes on its own and fails to normalise business, the shipping company will be dealt according to principles.”

$1.1 billion is required to turn the company around, and it has to be done in the next year to avoid bankruptcy.

With the South Korean government refusing any bailout plan, Hanjin is reliant on raising funds and through its creditors.

In July, 2016, PTI reported that creditors were putting pressure upon the carrier company to turn around its revenue.

HMM recently announced that it will be joining an alliance with Maersk and MSC; Hanjin was predicted to join in April, 2017, but this is impossible at present time due to financial turmoil.
