Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, Paradip Port Authority & V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, participated as a panelist in the session “Hydrogen Hubs & Ports” at the Hydrogen Council Business Forum 2026, being held from 6–8 October 2026 at JW Marriott Sahar, Mumbai.

Moderated by Nishaanth Balashanmugam, CEO and Director, GH2 India, the session also featured Captain Prashant S. Widge, Executive Director – Maritime, India & Indonesia, Smart Freight Centre, and Shri J. Senthil Kumar, Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department, Kochi.

The discussion focused on the expanding role of ports in the emerging hydrogen economy — not merely as cargo gateways, but as critical infrastructure nodes connecting production, storage, transportation, bunkering and export.

For ports such as Paradip, with a strong industrial hinterland, large-scale cargo ecosystem and strategic location on India’s eastern seaboard, the hydrogen transition opens up new possibilities across clean energy, industrial logistics and future maritime fuels.

As India advances its energy transition, ports will play an increasingly important role in connecting industry, energy infrastructure and global maritime trade.
