*READING THE FUTURE*

What will the world look like in 10, 50, 100 years? Or in 346th, 446th or 546th Meet-up of JBL ?

You are invited to our 246th meet, where we turn the pages that look _forward_. From machines that think, AI that outthinks us, to computers that work on qubits, to energy that might save (or sink) us — this is the trillion dollar question: *Where is humanity headed?*

We’ll dive into AI, Quantum Computing, Future of Energy, Doomsday predictions and the new frontiers of science — not as sci-fi, but as science that is already here.

*Some of the remarkable books on these topics include :*

*On AI & Our Future With Machines:*
- _The Singularity Is Nearer: When We Merge with AI_ by Ray Kurzweil
- _The Coming Wave_ by Mustafa Suleyman - (The DeepMind co-founder)
- _AI 2041: Ten Visions for Our Future_ by Kai-Fu Lee & Chen Qiufan - (10 stunning short stories).

*On Quantum & Big Science:*
- _Quantum Supremacy_ by Michio Kaku -
- _The Future of Geography_ by Tim Marshall - (Power, politics and space in the next 100 years).

*On Doomsday & Survival:*
- _The Precipice: Existential Risk and the Future of Humanity_ by Toby Ord - (On how to avoid extinction).
- _The Ministry for the Future_ by Kim Stanley Robinson - (A blueprint for saving the planet).

But You don't need to have read any of these. Just bring your curiosity and one question about the future that keeps you up at night. Or even books on any other topics that you might have read off late.

Let's ask better questions, for bigger horizons.

Our next book club meet is around the corner, and the subject is none other than our neighbour — China!

Date: 27th November
Time: 11 AM – 1 PM
Venue: Peepal Cafe

China looms large in the Indian consciousness. It is one of our biggest trading partners, yet also a strategic adversary. Our relationship is often described as that of frenemies — a mix of cooperation, competition and complexity.

But how well do we really know China?

Beyond headlines, geopolitics and familiar binaries, there is a country with thousands of years of history, rich traditions, fascinating stories, complex mythologies and a society shaped by its own unique experiences.

This meetup, let’s explore China through books — its people, culture, history, stories and the many layers of the Chinese experience.

And let’s also delve into the intricacies and nuances of the thousand-year-old India–China relationship, going beyond the usual narratives of friendship versus rivalry.

📚 Come curious. Come ready to explore. Come with a book — or simply a willingness to discover.

Let’s read, discuss and understand our neighbour a little better.

See you at Peepal Cafe! ☕
