PRESS RELEASE

Kochi Metro Rail Limited has termed as extremely unfortunate the incident in which an iron piece fell onto a car at Palarivattom, where Phase II metro construction towards Infopark is under progress, causing injury to a young woman’s hand.

Kochi Metro also stated that stringent action will be taken against the contractor company, issued memo to the contractor and directed to extend all necessary support/assistance/compensation to the affected person. The incident occurred on Tuesday night during the de-shuttering work of the deck slab. Following the incident, KMRL has directed the contractor, Afcons Infrastructure, to immediately suspend such works until further notice

KMRL stated that a detailed high-level inquiry into the incident will be conducted, and steps will be taken to further strengthen the existing safety mechanisms.

KMRL clarified that these works will resume only after diverting the road traffic and ensuring all necessary additional safety measures are fully implemented.
