Right now is one of the most beautiful times of the year in North India — when two completely different landscapes come alive together 🌸🌷
In Srinagar, the famous Tulip Festival is in full bloom — endless colorful fields set against the backdrop of mountains.
In Ladakh, the magical Apricot Blossom season has started — villages like Dha, Hanu, Tyakshi and Turtuk are covered in soft white and pink blossoms.
And the best part?
Both festivals are happening right now and will last only for the next 10–15 days.
This is a rare window where you can experience: • The lush, colorful beauty of Kashmir
• The raw, high-altitude charm of Ladakh
• Two completely different cultures in one single trip
We can easily design a beautiful Kashmir + Ladakh itinerary like: Srinagar → Tulip Garden → Sonamarg → Kargil → A***n Valley (Apricot Blossom) → Leh → Nubra/Pangong
Perfect for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone who wants something beyond a regular tourist trip.
All the above photos are taken just 2–3 days back — this is exactly how it looks right now.
If anyone from the group is planning or even thinking about visiting, feel free to reach out. Happy to guide or help with planning.
Warm regards

In the cold desert of Nubra Valley, lives one of Ladakh’s most remarkable animals — the Double-Humped Bactrian Camel.

This rare species is perfectly adapted to Ladakh’s extreme climate, surviving harsh winters, dry landscapes, and high altitudes. In India, these camels are found only in Ladakh, making them a living symbol of the region’s unique ecology and ancient Silk Route history.

Seeing them against the dramatic Himalayan backdrop is a reminder of how life here has evolved in harmony with nature over centuries.

The true guardian of Ladakh’s high mountains.
Silent, elusive, and perfectly adapted to the harsh Himalayan terrain, the Snow Leopard — locally known as Shan — represents the wild soul of Ladakh.

Spotting this majestic predator in its natural habitat is a rare privilege and a reminder of why protecting Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem matters. At Himalayan Shepherd, we believe responsible tourism plays a key role in preserving such wonders for generations to come.

Top 10 Rock Art (Petroglyph) Sites in Ladakh — Our Earliest Human Stories

Ladakh is not just a land of monasteries and high passes — it is one of the richest rock-art landscapes in the entire Himalayan region. Scattered along the Indus, Nubra, and Changthang are hundreds of ancient boulders carved by early hunters, pastoralists and travellers who lived here thousands of years ago.

Many of these carvings are 2,000–6,000 years old, showing scenes of ibex hunts, wild animals, human figures, caravans, symbols and even early Buddhist motifs.

Here are the Top 10 Rock Art Sites in Ladakh every heritage lover should explore:

1️⃣ Domkhar Rock Art Sanctuary – Finest preserved carvings along the Indus.
2️⃣ Alchi Petroglyph Field – Animal figures, stupas & inscriptions.
3️⃣ Tangtse (Changthang) – 300+ engravings near the Pangong route.
4️⃣ Ensa, Nubra Valley – Mask-like faces & unique human forms.
5️⃣ Murgi Tokpo, Nubra – One of the oldest settlement-linked sites.
6️⃣ Khaltse–Skurbuchan Belt – Petroglyphs along ancient trade routes.
7️⃣ Dah–Hanu Region – Rich concentration of animal-style carvings.
8️⃣ Nimmu–Basgo Area – Rocks with carvings near the river confluence.
9️⃣ Sasoma–Saser Belt – Rare animal engravings in Upper Nubra.
🔟 Likir–Saspol Stretch – Dozens of scattered boulder carvings.

These sites form Ladakh’s open-air archaeological museum, preserving the earliest memories of human life in our mountains.

If you're planning to explore Ladakh beyond the regular itinerary, rock-art trails offer one of the most meaningful cultural experiences.
