alleys. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1592-1666) built the walled city of Delhi on the banks of holy river Yamuna. It had a magnificent palace known as Red Fort, impressive mansions, enchanting bazaars, elegant shrines, royal gardens and fountains at every corner to romance ones' senses. Emperor’s beloved daughter Jahanara designed a major street called Chandni Chowk in front of Red Fort, with a canal running down the center and pools at major intersections reflecting the moonlight. During the British regime, the street underwent major changes and since then this area has witnessed some of the most important events in Indian history. Chandni Chowk truly reflects the national unity, secularism and diversity of India.

Pigeon Flying or Kabootarbaazi in Old Delhi: It is interesting to learn about pigeons and how they can be trained to deliver messages or participate in competitions! We spent some time with Mr. Anil Sood, whose family is one of the oldest inhabitants of Old Delhi. He is an Ustaad (master pigeon trainer)and considers his trained pigeons as his own children :)

Here are some pictures of the Students from Principia College and the excited kids from an NGO called Jamghat. The NGO kids performed some songs and dances. The lovely students from Principia also sang some funny songs for the kids. It was heart touching to see how happy the NGO kids were to meet the American students. The students did a wonderful job in bringing smiles on the faces of the sweet kids :)))

Later we went to another place where young women are taught some skills to be self-reliant. The students made some cloth bags with their own hands. The students also interviewed some of these women and enjoyed interacting with these stalwart women.

In February, we had the opportunity to meet some wonderful students and staff from Principia College, Illinois. We organised interesting tours for them in Delhi and Agra including a visit to Old Delhi, NGO visits and organsing talks and visits to some religious places in Delhi. We take pride in sharing those beautiful moments here!
