The beautiful lakes and sea coast in Paravur attract visitors and foreigners. The main attraction is the interconnection of Paravur Kayal(lake) and the Arabian sea. Paravur is 21 kilometres (13 mi) away from Kollam by road while Paravur can be reached within 15 minutes (12 kilometres (7.5 mi)) by train from Kollam Junction. akkal, Perumpuzha, Nedungolam, Pozhikara, Maniyamkulam, Kurumandal, Kottamoola, Attinpuram & Kochalummoodu.[3] Paravur Municipality is a Grade-II Municipality in Kerala. It is about 23 kilometres (14 mi) from Kollam City and 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. Paravur is accessible from NH-47 from both Chathannoor and Parippally. Varkala is about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Paravur. K.S.R.T.C and private bus services connects Paravur to other adjacent towns. In fact, Paravur is just 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away from Kollam City through the Coastal road which is now engulfed by the Arabian sea. Constant efforts are there to repair the Coastal road, but the repaired road cannot withstand the furious waves most of the time. Paravur may included in the proposed JnNURM plan for the Kollam.
