It is painful to see a young driver lost his life in his vehicle at Dal Lake in cold night of winter in Kashmir called Chilai Kalan.
The driver has been not only a bread earner of his family but a source of business for the hoteliers, tourist related business hubs particularly at historical places and tourist destination and also for the people directly or indirectly associated with tourism. The driver in any capacity serve the general public and the Government in emergencies and natural disasters etc but is ignored at the time when he is in need of shelter, accomodation, assistance and other basic civic facilities.
The transporters have been pleading for the purpose but the Concerned agencies and the Government has been ignoring on one of the other pretext. Even inhuman treatment is given to the drivers not only by the Government Sector but also by the Private Sector as also by the high society human beings.
Very recently a team of transporters met the Union Transport Minister and others and discussed these issues thread bare but again without any fruitful result.
Now it is high time now to remind the authorities at Government level to take care of the people of such section of society besides the Hoteliers, Health Resort Place responsible people and others to take care that drivers are provided better accomodation facilities particularly in Minus temperature and also in high temperature .
The LG is also requested to kindly issue necessary instructions , advisories and orders to the concerned quarters for the welfare of the transporters particularly the crew viz drivers etc so that such shameful acts may not get repeated. Besides financial assistance is requested for the deceased driver .
All the tourist transporters share the pain and sarrow with the family of the deceased driver .
