India GDP Growth LIVE Updates: July core sector growth declines to 8 per cent; all eyes on GDP numbers

India GDP Growth News Live: India’s July core sector growth declined to 8.0% from 8.3% in June. The April-July core sector growth stood at 6.4% as against 11.5% in April-July 2022. On the other hand, India's economy in April to June likely grew at the fastest pace in a year, bolstered by central and state governments opening up their wallets for capex, stronger consumption demand and higher activities in the services sector, according to some economists.

A median forecast of an ET poll of 20 economists pegged the growth rate at 7.8 per cent for the first quarter of this financial year that started Apr. 1. The estimated range in the poll was 7.5-8.5 per cent. The Reserve Bank of India has forecast a growth rate of 8 per cent.

While India’s GDP grew 6.1 per cent in the March quarter of FY23, it had grown at 7.2 per cent in FY23 as a whole.

Meanwhile, India's fiscal deficit for the first four months of this fiscal year through July stood at 6.06 lakh crore rupees, or 33.9% of annual estimates, government data showed today.

The fiscal deficit widened from 20.5% reported in the comparable year-earlier period.

The wider fiscal deficit comes amid mushrooming speculations that the Narendra Modi-led government, which is seeking to return to power for the third term after Lok Sabha elections next year, will soon have to unleash various fiscal measures and particularly so as to rein in galloping inflation rate.

While the fiscal impact after the Indian government this week slashed LPG cylinder prices by Rs 200 per unit is seen to be limited as the move for now seems to only trim oil refiners’ profit margins, the rising clamor for the need to cut petrol and diesel prices may have an impact on budget gap. However, the robust surplus transfer of Rs 87,416 crore to New Delhi’s coffer by Reserve Bank of India has provided a big cushion and lifted non-tax revenues.

Earlier today, Mahindra launched the TUV300 in a bid to grab a share of the rapidly growing compact UV pie. Available in seven variants, the TUV300 is powered by mHawk 80 engine, which churns out 82bhp and 230Nm of torque. Priced at Rs 6.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), the TUV300 goes head-on against the Ford EcoSport. Check out the detailed photo gallery of the Mahindra TUV300.

Designed in collaboration with Italian design house Pininfarina, the TUV300 gets a boxy design in tune with Mahindra’s trademark design philosophy.

The TUV300 gets a tall body design, though the high shoulder line and the slightly sloping roofline manage to add a touch of sportiness to the stance.

The top-end T8 variants comes with all-new 15-inch 10-spoke wheels, while the base variants get steel rims. The TUV300 rides on 215/75 CEAT tubeless radials.

The doors get a soft touch plastic trim, a padded armrest and a bottle holder. The silver accents surrounding the door handles improve the premium look.

The bonnet houses a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, which gets a two-stage turbocharger. The engine is offered with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox.

Inside, the TUV300 gets a two-tone dashboard and beige fabric upholstery for the seats. The AC vents and the centre console is bordered with silver accents.

The twin-pod instrument cluster gets an analogue speedometer and tachometer. A small digital display between the two pods displays fuel level, odometer, trip meter and other basic functionalities.

There are additional bottle holders and cubbyholes besides the gear stick and the hand brake lever. The electric window controls are also placed here.
The infotainment system in the piano black centre console comes with a LCD display unit. It also gets a two-DIN audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

The centre console of the Mahindra TUV300 packs in a lot of buttons. The AC and heater controls are placed below the infotainment system.

Despite the UV’s compact dimensions, the TUV300 has adequate leg room for the rear seat passengers. The TUV300 also offers roof lamps for the second row.

The TUV300 gets two jump seats to make it a seven seater. The jump seats and the second row of seats can be folded to increase the boot space to 720 litres.

The TUV300 is offered in six paint schemes – bold black, molten orange, majestic silver, dynamo red, verve blue and glacier white.

SURAT: In an extraordinary show of appreciation, a diamond merchant in Surat, Gujarat, has gifted cars and jewellery as bonus to his 491 employees ahead of the Diwali festival.

Savjibhai Dholakiya, the merchant and owner of diamond export company Hari Krishna Exports Private Ltd., said his employees had performed well and deserved the bonus.

Savjibhai said that he had kept Rs 50 crore aside to be distributed as bonus to his employees, all of whom had met the targets they had been given.

"These workers have been loyal to the company. They deserve it, they have put in hard work which has been reflected in their performance. So, they should be benefitted with the bonus," said Dholakiya.
