🇮🇹 🇴🇲 Oman: geografia e cultura
🌊 Affacciato sul Golfo di Oman e sul Mar Arabico, il Sultanato dell’Oman occupa una posizione strategica nel sud-est della Pen*sola Arabica, vicino allo Stretto di Hormuz, uno dei passaggi marittimi più importanti al mondo.
🏜️ Il paesaggio omanita è profondamente eterogeneo: deserti, coste, montagne, oasi e wadi convivono in un territorio sorprendentemente vario, dove l’ambiente ha modellato nel tempo insediamenti, coltivazioni e vie di comunicazione.
⛰️ A nord si innalzano i Monti Al Hajar, con il Jebel Shams, la vetta più alta del Paese, mentre a sud la regione del Dhofar si trasforma durante il khareef, il monsone estivo che rende il paesaggio più verde e umido.
🧭 Per secoli l’Oman è stato una terra di navigatori, commercianti e viaggiatori, collegata all’India, alla Persia e all’Africa orientale attraverso rotte marittime e scambi culturali.

🌊 Overlooking the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, the Sultanate of Oman occupies a strategic position in the south-eastern Arabian Peninsula, close to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime passages.
🏜️ Oman’s landscape is deeply heterogeneous: deserts, coastlines, mountains, oases and wadis coexist within a remarkably diverse territory, where the environment has shaped settlements, cultivation and routes of movement over time.
⛰️ In the north, the Al Hajar Mountains rise dramatically, with Jebel Shams as the country’s highest peak, while in the south the Dhofar region changes during the khareef, the summer monsoon that brings humidity, rain and green landscapes.
🧭 For centuries, Oman has been a land of sailors, traders and travellers, connected with India, Persia and East Africa through maritime routes and cultural exchanges.
