Largo Cairoli: where history meets the heart of Milan
There is a square in Milan that many people pass through without ever really stopping. 🏛️
Largo Cairoli is named after Benedetto Cairoli: a patriot, a Garibaldian, and the sole survivor of five brothers who sacrificed everything for the unification of Italy.
In the centre stands the equestrian monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi, designed by Ettore Ximenes and unveiled in 1895. Bronze, history and symbols of the Risorgimento come together in a single sculpture.
From here, the view takes in Via Dante and the Castello Sforzesco. A vista well worth a stop.
Stop by this stop on the Milan Open Tour and let Milan tell you its story.
