🚆🌙 RDC TAKES OVER STOCKHOLM–BERLIN EURONIGHT! 🇸🇪🇩🇪
A new chapter begins for one of Europe’s most interesting night trains! 🌍🚆
Starting 1 September 2026, RDC Deutschland officially takes over operation of the Stockholm–Hamburg–Berlin EuroNight, following the end of SJ’s four-year involvement.
The good news for passengers? The train itself isn’t changing. 👇
🛏️ Same rolling stock
RDC already owns the fleet, including sleeper cars, couchettes and seated coaches, and has been SJ’s operating partner on the German section since the service launched.
📅 Three departures per week from Stockholm
• Tuesday
• Thursday
• Saturday
🇩🇪 From Berlin, services depart:
• Monday
• Friday
• Plus a third weekly service starting or ending at Hamburg.
🚆 Stockholm ↔ Hamburg remains the core route, with two of the three weekly services extended to Berlin.
🌙 From SJ to RDC
SJ launched the year-round Stockholm–Hamburg night train in September 2022, extending it to Berlin in March 2023.
Despite engineering works, diversions and disruptions across Sweden, Denmark and Germany, demand has remained strong. SJ reported that its sleeper cars were almost fully booked for much of summer 2026. 🔥
Now, with Swedish government funding ending, RDC has decided to continue the service commercially.
And there’s even more competition on the route! 👀
🚆 RDC EuroNight will operate alongside Snälltåget’s separate Stockholm–Berlin night train, giving travellers another overnight option between Scandinavia and Germany.
🌍 Why this matters
Night trains are making a comeback across Europe, and the decision to continue this service commercially is another encouraging sign for international rail travel.
Instead of flying, passengers can board in Stockholm in the evening, sleep on the train and wake up in Germany. 😴🚆
