Lampedusa is an island in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to the region of Sicily, it offers a stunning island with beautiful beaches and coves, the island is located about 200 kilometers south of Sicily, to reach either from Catania Airport or from the port in Porto Empedocle ( Agrigento).

The inhabitants of the island have been working for centuries mainly in tourism and fishing, Seafood Lovers are in good hands here.

Lampedusa ist eine Insel im Mittelmeer, welche zu der Region Sizilien gehört. Es erwartet Sie eine atemberaubende Insel mit Traumhaften Stränden sowie Buchten. Die Insel befindet sich ca. 200 Kilometer südlich von Sizilien, zu erreichen ist sie entweder vom Flughafen Catania oder vom Hafen in Porto Empedocle (Agrigent).

Die Bewohner der Insel arbeiten schon über Jahrhunderte hauptsächlich im Tourismus und Fischfang. Wer Meeresfrüchte Gourmet Esser ist der ist hier gut aufgehoben.

Arancini are a local dish in Sicily, with origins going back through the 10th century of when the island was under Arab rule. They are deep fried and stuffed rice balls, usually with a mixture of ragú (meat and tomato sauce) with Mozzarella and Peas.⠀

The name Arancino means “little orange” (Orange in Italian is arancia) as the ricy version is coloured in dark orange/brown and is the size of a nicely grown orange, a fruit that is local to Sicily. While the Arancini in Palermo have all been shaped round or oval, as I’ve seen, the Arancini in Catania are usually shaped more conical.⠀⠀

Der Name Arancino bedeutet "kleine Orange" (Orange in Italienisch ist Arancia), da diese dunkelorange / braun gefärbt sind und die Größe einer schön gewachsenen Orange hat. Während die Arancini in Palermo, alle rund oder oval geformt sind, sind die Arancini in Catania normalerweise „konischer“ geformt (ähnlich wie ein Kegel). ⠀⠀

The origins of the opuntia ficus indica, the botanical name of the prickly pears, are to be found in the fifteenth century, when they were imported into Sicily from South Central America.⠀⠀
Over the centuries this plant has managed to find its ideal habitat mostly among rocks and lava fields, on the slopes of Mount Etna, and it ended up fully integrating into the classic Sicilian landscape. ⠀⠀⠀

💡 Its high content of fibres, vitamins, in particular Vitamin C, and mineral salts (calcium, phosphorus and magnesium), provide this fruit with diuretic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and gastroprotective properties. In short, it is a true cure-all. Not to mention its large, fleshy and thorny leaf, called pala, whose juice and pulp are used in cosmetology and in phytotherapy for their incredible healing and moisturizing qualities. ⠀⠀⠀

Noto is the Capital of Baroque in Sicily and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is perched on a plateau overlooking the Asinaro valley, covered by citrus, olive and almond trees. If you love Baroque architecture I recommend to visit also the nearby Ragusa, Modica and Siracusa with its stunning Ortigia. It is a fascinating journey to the discovery of these towns built with the typical honey-colored stone, illuminated by the rays of the sun during the day and by the warm artificial lights in the evening. ⠀

💡Noto was completely destroyed by the earthquake in 1693 and then rebuilt. You can admire palaces, churches, balconies with wrought iron railings and cherubs that decorate the facing. Noto is called the “Garden of Stone” because of its typical stone.⠀
