TRADITIONAL FOOD IN GERMANY
1️⃣ SAUSAGE: there are more than 40 types of sausages with many different cooking methods such as grilled, boiled, smoked or fried. This is a popular dish, often served with potato salad or sauerkraut.
2️⃣CURRYWUST: classic street food made from boiled or fried sausage, then covered with tomato sauce mixture and sprinkled with curry powder, served with French fries, bread rolls.
3️⃣ Schnitgel: dish originating from Italy, then popular in Austria and then Germany. It's a tender piece of meat (like chicken, beef, veal, or pork) coated in egg, flour, and breadcrumbs then deep-fried in hot oil, served with fried or mashed potatoes.
4️⃣ Pretgel: pretzels 🥨 are made with a long strip of dough folded into a knot and then boiled before baking. This results in a chewy brown crust and a soft, smooth interior.
5️⃣ Bratlartoffeln: a type of donut made from mashed potatoes, eggs and flour. Germans eat this cake for breakfast with eggs and bacon.
6️⃣ Ruoladen: is a German staple that usually consists of pickles and bacon wrapped in thin slices of beef or veal.
7️⃣ Gintopi: is a stew consisting of many ingredients such as vegetables, potatoes, meat and beans such as lentils, often served with bread.
8️⃣ Maultaschen: shaped like Italian ravioli, containing many ingredients inside such as minced meat, smoked meat, sausage, onions and herbs. It is fried and served with pickled cabbage or cooked in broth.
9️⃣ Egg noodles: made from many layers of small Spätzle pasta with grated cheese and topped with fried onions. It is often served with salad and sometimes with applesauce.
🔟Brot: bread 🍞made from rye flour or white flour, round, heavy, crispy and meatier than Italian or French bread.
