Elizabeth is not your normal guide and that’s what makes touring with her so memorable. She has studied art history at Smith College, has a masters from Syracuse University and worked in art restoration for several years before giving it up to follow her passion. My Italian Treasures was born of her enthusiasm to share the beauty of her home, Florence Italy. Elizabeth boasts over 15 years of hands-on-experience guiding and organizing unique single and multiple-day programs and events throughout Italy, with groups such as Country Walkers, IC Bellagio and Smithsonian Journeys. Since in-person travel is limited, Elizabeth recognizes that it is often the artisans that suffer the most when there are no visitors to Italy. The sunset may be the star of this photograph, but Cefalù has another face worth getting to know.

A fascinating detail: Byzantine masters from Constantinople created the cathedral’s oldest mosaics in 1148, at the invitation of King Roger II. The monumental Christ Pantocrator is made from countless small mosaic pieces, including those that form its golden background.

As an art historian, I love helping guests look beyond the overall impression and notice the craftsmanship. As a traveler, I also know when it is time to stop looking at mosaics and enjoy the beach!

The early morning light was just reaching the top of Palazzo Vecchio as we stood together in Piazza della Signoria.

For centuries, this has been Florence’s great civic square—home to the city’s government, public ceremonies, political debate, and magnificent sculpture. Today, it remains one of the best places to understand Florence at a glance: the medieval power of Palazzo Vecchio, the Renaissance masterpieces in the Loggia dei Lanzi, and the famous copy of Michelangelo’s David all within a few steps.

A perfect place to begin a day of exploring Florence.

Montepulciano, Vin Nobile w**e tasting with light lunch and Pienza—all in one thoughtfully arranged day.

On Friday 23 October 2026, I am arranging a small-group excursion with a private driver and local expert, and I would love to hear from anyone interested in joining.

The day includes a w**ery tour, four w**es paired with local products, and time in Pienza to wander its streets, browse the shops, and enjoy the surrounding views.

Pricing is per person: US$400 with four guests, US$385 with five, or US$330 with six. A minimum of four participants is required; larger groups will be quoted separately.

Private transport from Florence, a local expert, and w**ery visit including a guided tasting with light lunch are included. Any entry fees are additional.

Children see monuments differently than adults do. Have your children—or grandchildren—ever surprised you with their unique observations?

While we may first notice the architecture or art, children often spot an animal hidden in a painting, a grand door, an unexpected symbol, or the question behind the story. Their curiosity has a wonderful way of bringing history to life.

During this visit inside a Florentine monument, a few simple props turned the experience into a conversation—inviting everyone to look, imagine, and ask questions.

At My Italian Treasures, I believe family travel should be flexible, thoughtful, and enjoyable for every generation.

Italy does not need to be made more beautiful by artificial intelligence.

What matters is the human connection behind the journey: the people who welcome us, the doors that open through trust, and the moments that cannot be found in a standard itinerary.

AI can tell you when a building was built, what cities are near Florence, give you details of a painting - even guide you through the busy streets.

But it can't transmit the passion for color of an artist; it can't create the excitement of sitting with the w**e producer as she gives a taste from the barrel, and it won't invite you to enjoy those small, quiet moments that will stay in your memory long after the facts and figures pass.

My Italian Treasures is built on relationships developed over many years, careful planning, and the belief that travel should feel personal. I want guests to feel hosted—not hurried from one famous place to the next.
