July was all about two of our most loved cultural experiences — Bamboo Lantern and Tea Ceremony 🇯🇵

Throughout the month, we welcomed families, couples, groups of friends, and solo travelers from around the world. No matter who they came with, everyone shared the same excitement of experiencing Japanese culture together.

🎋 Bamboo Lantern Experience
Using Oita's locally sourced bamboo, guests created their very own lanterns. Even though it was a first-time experience for almost everyone, they crafted beautiful pieces with amazing creativity. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they proudly held their finished lanterns was one of our favorite moments of the month.

🍵 Tea Ceremony Experience
Guided by a professional tea ceremony instructor, guests discovered the beauty and traditions of Japanese tea culture. From preparing matcha to learning the etiquette behind each movement, the experience offered a chance to slow down, be present, and enjoy a peaceful moment away from everyday life.

Hidden in Oita Prefecture, Kunisaki Peninsula is home to a unique landscape where nature and people have lived in harmony for centuries.

On this journey, we met with local GIAHS expert Mr. Hayashi, who shared the story behind why Kunisaki was recognized by the world, the challenges the region faces today, and how its traditions continue to be preserved.
