I had the pleasure of guiding two wonderful guests from Riverside, California, around Mt. Fuji and the surrounding area. They were especially curious about the so-called “haunted forest” of Mt. Fuji, the Aokigahara Jukai Forest, which is actually not haunted at all. We took a peaceful stroll through the serene forest and then explored one of the fascinating lava caves beneath Mt. Fuji. It was a wonderful day discovering a quieter and more mysterious side of the Mt. Fuji area.

I finally made it out to run the famous Imperial Palace loop! I started at Hanzomon Gate and set off around the Imperial Palace, finishing the 5-kilometer loop in 32 minutes.😂 I’ve been running on a treadmill from time to time since I hurt my back, but there’s really nothing like running outdoors. The fresh air (I don’t know it’s really fresh, though), the scenery, and the feeling of moving through the city make such a difference. And running here, on perhaps the most famous jogging course in Japan, made it even more special.✌️

Japan commemorates August 15 as the Memorial Day for the End of World War II. Many people visit the controversial Yasukuni Shrine, where nearly 2.5 million war dead are enshrined. On this day, the area around the shrine can become quite chaotic. Groups on both the right and the left gather to voice their opinions, often criticizing the government or other countries through loudspeakers. It’s also one of the days when you see more Japanese flags than almost anywhere else in Japan. (Interestingly, Japanese flags aren’t commonly displayed throughout the country.)

A beautiful afternoon sky that I captured in Ginza. After the typhoon passed, we had some unusual weather. It rained tremendously in Chiba Prefecture yesterday, while Tokyo was mostly fine. And today, despite the forecast saying it would rain all afternoon, it turned out to be a very clear, slightly cooler, and pleasant day.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Mikuni Pass and Mt. Fuji

There is a beautiful viewpoint of Mt. Fuji on a toll road in the Hakone mountains called Mikuni Pass. On the day I visited with my guests from the States, the peak of Mt. Fuji was just protruding from the thick clouds, making the mountain look even more majestic. I captured a photo of her with a 3D relief map of the surrounding mountains in front of Mt. Fuji. 🗻

🍜 I tried halal wagyu ramen in Asakusa for the first time.
This restaurant serves certified halal ramen made without any pork, making it a great option for Muslim travelers visiting Japan.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. The tender wagyu beef, rich and creamy broth, and perfectly cooked noodles worked so well together.
It's definitely on the premium side, but I think it was worth trying for the experience.
It's great to see more halal-friendly restaurants opening across Japan, giving travelers even more ways to enjoy Japanese food.

One of the biggest benefits of taking our Hakone & Mt. Fuji Private Tour is that you’ll hardly encounter other tourists.

We usually avoid crowded tourist spots such as Lake Kawaguchi, Arakura Sengen Park, Subaru Line 5th Station, Owakudani Valley, Hakone Shrine, etc., where you often see more tourists than views!

Our routes are also mostly traffic-free, and big sightseeing buses are rarely seen. So even at the beginning of the Bon period, one of the busiest travel seasons for locals, you might find yourself thinking, “Hey, where are all the other tourists?!”

That’s one of the best things about traveling with us—you can enjoy Mt. Fuji and Hakone without feeling like you’re in the middle of a tourist crowd.

I was so happy to welcome Agostina and Alessandro from Bologna! 🇮🇹It was such a pleasure spending time with you both. Grazie mille! ❤️ I hope you have many wonderful memories of Japan! 🇯🇵

I met an amazing three-generation family from Massachusetts. Grandma had no problem hiking up the steep trail to a hut located above the 5th Station of the Gotemba Trail. One of the staff members at the hut took a lovely photo of us. She asked us to pose in the shape of Mt. Fuji with our arms. 🗻 It was such a fun moment and a pleasant memory for all of us.

I was a lucky guide! I had the opportunity to guide my boss’s daughter, Lilia, and her boyfriend, Alex, on our private Nikko tour. They were such an amazing and lovely couple.

We visited Lake Chuzenji, a beautiful temple, the waterfalls, enjoyed a delicious yuba lunch, explored the Shogun’s shrine, and finished the day at Kanmangafuchi Abyss. I truly enjoyed spending the day with them and showing them one of my favorite destinations in Japan.

🍣 I joined one of our Tsukiji Food Tours and couldn't resist filming all the amazing food.
One of my favorite ways to explore Japan? Food hopping! 😋
In Tsukiji, every stop brings something new—from fresh seafood and delicious sweets to a satisfying bowl of ramen.
You don't need a plan. Just bring your appetite.
What would be the first thing you'd try?
