期間中のどこかで、ゲリラ的にアンビエントセッションを予定しております。

Kouji Ohno  Solo Exhibition 

The second photo shows Japan's special attack weapon "Ouka" developed during the war, and the Bell X-1, 
which was developed as a supersonic experimental aircraft after the war. 
Both aircraft were made using the same technology, but served completely opposite purposes. 
This artwork uses scale to express the contrasting importance of human life while using the same technology.

2枚目の写真は、大戦中に開発された日本軍の特攻兵器「桜花」と、戦後には音速実験機として開発されたBell x-1。
この２つの飛行機は同じ技術を使用して作られましたが、まったく逆の目的を果たしました。
同じ技術でありながら、人間の人生の対照的な重要性を天秤を使って表した作品です。

Kouji Ohno  Solo Exhibition 

Tattoos held significant meaning as a connection between the body and the soul. 
The human-shaped sculpture, crafted from a single piece of wood, is hollowed out and features images extracted from tattoo patterns carved in various regions, etched into the surface of the body. 
This piece creates a spatial composition by contrasting these symbols of the soul with intricate silk threads.

タトゥーは身体と魂のつながりとして重要な意味を持っていました。
この人型の彫刻は一木から作られ、くり抜かれており、さまざまな地域で彫られてきたタトゥーの紋様から抽出されたイメージをボディに透かし彫りしています。
これらの魂の象徴を緻密な絹糸で対比させ、空間構成を生み出しています。

Kouji Ohno  Solo Exhibition 

 A three-dimensional representation of the "Ryakōzu" (a Buddhist depiction of the coming of Amida Buddha) in space. Countless silk threads intricately woven together. 
All of this is a spatial installation created by the artist in a traditional townhouse.

Kouji Ohno  Solo Exhibition 

I had been greatly shocked when I visited The Terminal KYOTO space 2024 May in the first time.
There were two air-raid shelters in a carefully maintained Kyo-machiya, a Japanese garden viewed from the café, and a room with a vaulted ceiling in the living space on the second floor, which had also been renovated with clay walls.
It was impressed by the exhibition space, where the refined Japanese space was understood in its essence, and Kyoto is indeed the capital of 1,000 years.
When I had the good fortune to hold a solo exhibition at The Terminal KYOTO this time, the first thing I became aware of was the space of the bomb shelter.
Why were air-raid shelters necessary in Kyo-machiya?
Then, I examined why only Kyoto could keep Japanese cultural spaces be stored on a large scale in its long history.
During the Second World War, Kyoto was repeatedly named as a ca ndidate site for atomic bombing, however miraculously escaped the danger and was not bombed in earnest until the end of the war. (See the reference book in the
café space.)
Various intertwining factors saved Kyoto, a city with a long history and culture.
Even today, the world is being repeatedly devastated by the unceasing and foolish conflicts.
An attempt is being made to express invocation and aninma in this world in which we exist at The Terminal KYOTO.

【祈りと霊性についての考察】

初めてThe Terminal KYOTO の空間に訪れた時の衝撃は大きかった。
丁寧に管理された京町家に防空壕が２つ、カフェから望む日本庭園、２階の住空間には天板を抜いた吹き抜けの部屋も土壁でリノベーションされていた。
洗練された和空間を、本質的に理解できている展示空間に、京都はさすが1000 年の都だと感動した。
今回、まず最初に意識したのが防空壕の空間だった。
京町家になぜ防空壕が必要だったのか？
そして、長い歴史のなかで、京都だけに日本文化の空間が大規模に保管され得たのかを検証した。
先の大戦中、京都は何度も原爆の投下候補地に挙げられながらも、きわどいところでその難を逃れ奇跡的に本格的な爆撃をされずに終戦を迎えた。
様々に絡み合う要素が、悠久の歴史と文化を有する京都の町を救ったといっても過言ではない。
現在でも止むことのない愚かな戦禍により、世界中で惨劇を繰り返している。
我々が存在するこの世界という場に、祈願と霊性を表出させる試みをThe terminal KYOTOの伝統的な京町家空間に展開する。

Ohno Kouji has explored the bases of life and spirituality on the basis of existential reflections.
In 2020, the Corona disaster forced him to return to Japan from the Netherlands, where he was based.
He experienced various events in this world of disease and war.
He will present a new installation and artworks exploring Invocations moreover spirituality of Anima in the space of The Terminal KYOTO.

Kouji Ohno  Solo Exhibition 

Kouji Ohno was born in Tokyo, and currently live in Tokyo, Studio at Tokyo and Amsterdam.
There are important concepts for my expression, ”Reflections on existence” and “In the view of life and death”. He is considering and
analyzing how these things relate to the world.
Therefore, he had been continuing to research the relationship between anatomy and art at medical university after graduating from art
university.
The environment of his upbringing was downtown Tokyo which was a unique and particular megalopolis.
The city is still mixed with Oriental philosophy and religion that believe in the afterlife of the soul, and Western culture created from the
scientific civilization.
From there to the present, he is researching the consideration of “existence” which is explored all over the world, such as Ancient Oriental,
Egypt, Greek philosophy as well as quantum and the theory of relativity-
His artworks and expressions will be created when integrated with his thought experiments and site-specific cultures and histories.

大野公士は東京で生まれ、現在は東京とオランダを拠点に活動している。
表現についての重要な概念は、「存在についての考察」と「死生観について」量子論や相対性理論だけでなく、古代東洋、エジプト、ギリシャ哲学など世界各地で探求されている「存在」についての考察の研究を継続している。
これらの概念と世界がどのように関係しているのかを分析して、思考実験やサイトスペシフィックな文化や歴史と統合され、作品表現にフィードバックされてる。
