Ikoma Cable Car 生駒ケーブル
Convenient for ascending the steep mountain to Hozanji Temple and Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park, the line was built in 1928. The original cable cars were fairly standard, until they were replaced in 2000 with kitsch style cars shaped like dogs, cats and even cakes. Two cars run up to Hozanji Temple, then you need to transfer to continue up the mountain.
The cable cars run about every 20 minutes.

Stop doing this in Japan… you’re instantly “that” tourist.

Eating while walking feels normal in many countries.

In Japan, it quietly breaks a major social rule.

No one will shout at you.

But you’ll feel it.

Here’s what’s going on:

• Walking while eating is seen as messy and disruptive
• Public spaces are meant to stay clean and calm
• People expect you to stop and finish before moving
• Ignoring this brings the “silent judgment” from others

It’s not a law.

It’s stronger than that.

It’s social pressure.

Most tourists don’t even realize they’re doing it wrong.

Small habit… big reaction.

If you saw someone eating while walking in Japan, would you care or ignore it?

I got over 30 reactions on one of my posts last week! Thanks everyone for your support! 🎉

Things You Should Never Do in Japan
In Japan, respect and harmony matter a lot. Do not speak loudly in public, cut in line, ignore basic manners, or disturb others. Always remove your shoes where required, use chopsticks properly, and avoid wasting food. Calm, polite behavior is highly valued. The key is simple: never act in a way that disrespects others or breaks social harmony.
