Day 5 of our Camino Portugues (Variante Espiritual)

Step into the magic of the Camino Portugués Spiritual Variant. Today's 24.5 km trek from A Armenteira to Vilanova de Arousa felt like walking through a fairy tale. Along the Ruta da Pedra e da Auga (7 kilometers), a cool 13°C morning mist hugged the lush green forest, a rushing river carved through mossy stones, and quiet, abandoned water mills whispered secrets of the past. A truly enchanted stretch of the journey. 🌿💧📍

Spending the night in the pretty seaside village of Combarro was a wise decision as today’s walk was proving to be a challenge for us newbie hikers. It was pretty much uphill all the way.

All bundled up for the cold and raring to go, it was still dark when we left the hotel at 7AM. It was a bit of a challenge getting out of Vigo as our gps kept directing us to a different route and the yellow camino arrow signs were far in between.

After a few wrong turns and detours, we finally made our way on the camino trail.
The path took us through rural settings, a magnificent view of the Vigo estuary and along the peaceful nature trail of the Senda del Agua (water trail).
