So much has happened in the last month of March. Looking back, I cannot help but think that my out-of-this-world encounter with this pair of mother & calf humpback whales just 10 days before my mother passed on, seemed to be her way of cushioning the impact for me, and also a reminder of the love between us mother and child. It is a perfect parting gift, and I believe that’s God’s intention - to associate her passing with something else so beautiful to remember her by 🐋 , and so that I know everything is perfect in His time 🌷🌷What a revelation 🙏

The enormous mother humpback whale waited patiently near the surface (a behaviour called “logging”) while supporting its calf’s frequent swims to the surface to breathe through its blowhole. When the calf is a newborn, the mother will teach this way of breathing by gently nudging it up. A calf breathes about every 5min while an adult can hold its breath for about 45min. This calf loves to play too, showing its belly up for all of us to admire! 🥰 With

We were looking for humpback whales on my day 2, and the ocean sunfish (Mola Mola) appeared instead! What a day!! It’s the 1st time for all the dive crew onboard to see a this, so they were even more excited than us ❤️ I thought maybe nothing today can beat yesterday, but I guess God has His surprises in store!

Solo birthday trip to Okinawa, and the 1st swim already blew my mind ❤️❤️ In the last 6 years, even the dive operator has never seen this - a mother humpback staying near to the surface with her calf for so long. What a perfect birthday gift from Mother Nature! Thank you!! 🐋

A dream come true! 😍😍
3,500 dives later, I’m finally meeting this cute fella🤩 *chomp chomp chomp*

Dugongs are marine mammals that must surface to breathe air through nostrils located on top of their snouts. They typically surface every 3-6 minutes, though they can hold their breath for up to 11-12 minutes. Dugongs possess very long lungs that extend down their body. Dugongs are rarely found in deep water, preferring shallow coastal areas where they can easily access the surface to breathe while feeding on seagrass.

I’ve always dreamt about seeing this and indeed, I was so mesmerised by the spectacular sight of the schooling eagle rays gliding past in the waters of Maldives ❤️ Eagle rays are typically solitary creatures, but they can form schools for migratory travels in the same direction and speed, for mating and for social gathering during non-breed seasons. Schooling can be a defensive measure to avoid predators in open waters.
