Kenya Association of Travel Agents The Kenya Association of Travel Agents is the national umbrella body for Travel Agents in Kenya, with a growing membership of over 300 Travel Agencies.

It is Kenya’s largest and only membership organization for travel agents. KATA transitioned from a society to a company limited by guarantee in 2018, providing more space for growth and defending the travel trade. KATA is a member of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents’ Association (UFTAA), Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF), and African Tourism Council. It

also hosts the Secretariat of the Association of Eastern and Southern African Travel Agents (AESATA).

Today, we joined our Corporate Member & Partner, Skyward Airlines , in celebrating the launch of its new Nairobi–Garissa route, its 13th route in its 13th year. A fitting milestone for an airline that continues to expand connectivity across Kenya.

At KATA, we see every new route as more than a new destination. It is a new product in our basket and a new opportunity for our travel agents.

Until you try it.

No notes. No interruptions. No thinking about what you'll say next. Just... listen.

One of the most powerful exercises led by Johan Beeckmans, Senior Associate at MCE – MCE - Management Centre Europe , challenged participants to do exactly that: listen attentively for one minute, then repeat what they had heard.

What appeared to be the simplest task in the room quickly became one of the most revealing.

Because listening isn't a passive act. It's an intentional leadership skill. It demands presence, empathy, focus, and the discipline to truly understand before responding.

As leaders, we often underestimate the power of listening. Yet it is through listening that we build trust, strengthen relationships, communicate with purpose, and ultimately influence others.

Sometimes, the most impactful voice in the room belongs to the person who chose to listen first.
