🚨 A Hard Lesson on Brokers in Logistics 🚨
This week, our company faced a situation that nearly cost us our reputation. A client urgently needed sound equipment delivered to Mombasa for an event. Because of timing, we engaged a broker who assured us the truck was leaving that same night.
What followed was a chain of false promises, unanswered calls, and misleading updates. The truck didn’t actually leave until the next evening, and the package was delivered late at night — far beyond the promised timeline.
The Reality of Some Brokers:
- Money first — Once paid, they stop caring about timelines or client needs.
- Poor communication — Calls go unanswered, updates are vague or dishonest.
- No accountability — They don’t follow up with transporters or clients.
- Reputation risk — Their negligence jeopardizes trust built between a company and its clients.
📢 My Takeaway
Brokers who operate this way are not just unreliable , they are dangerous to any company’s credibility. Logistics is about trust, transparency, and timely delivery. Without those, you lose both clients and reputation.
Lesson for all companies: Always vet your brokers, demand accountability, and never compromise on communication. Protecting your reputation means protecting your client’s trust.
