Poultry farming in kenya has become a business most farmers want to take .Reason being the farming practice is manageable and one can always practice it even working on something else. Below are some of the MUST factors one must consider when he/she wants to be succeful in the business.
1.Housing .
This is a very important factor doesn't matter the number of birds that you will be keeping .However there many factors that determine the housing system e.g the number of birds you want to keep,the type of birds,site etc.
Housing is very vital .A good housing solves more than 40% of poultry issues such as diseases .Always get a qualifield personel to assist during construction.
2.Type of bird.
what type of birds to do you want to raise?Is it layers or broilers,,turkey,goose,duck.Always source quality chicks from reputable breeders .
3.Feeds and feeding.
Feeds carries larger part of expenses in a poultry farm and adequate plan toward feeding will go along way to make everything easier.One can always decide to produce own feeds or buy from agrovets or manufactures .proper feeding ensures the bird grows well and produce adequtely.
