🌱 Carrot Growing & Spraying Program

1. Land Preparation
- Plough deeply and break clods for fine soil.
- Add well‑decomposed manure (avoid fresh manure).
- Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

2. Planting
- Use certified carrot seeds.
- Sow in rows, spacing 20–25 cm apart.
- Thin seedlings to 5–8 cm spacing after germination.

3. Watering
- Keep soil moist, especially during germination.
- Avoid waterlogging; carrots prefer consistent but moderate watering.

4. W**d Control
- W**d regularly to reduce competition.
- Use shallow weeding to avoid damaging roots.

5. Spraying Program
Week 2–3 (after germination):
- Spray with a mild fungicide to prevent damping‑off.

Week 4–6:
- Apply insecticide against aphids and leaf miners.
- Use foliar feed to boost growth.

Week 7–10:
- Spray fungicide for leaf blight and powdery mildew.
- Alternate chemicals to avoid resistance.

Week 11 onwards:
- Monitor for root pests (nematodes, cutworms).
- Apply recommended soil drench if infestation is noted.

6. Harvesting
- Harvest at 90–120 days when roots are firm and orange.
- Avoid leaving carrots too long in the soil to prevent cracking.

---

📌 Farmer Tips
- Always rotate chemicals to prevent resistance.
- Spray early morning or late evening for best results.
- Use protective gear during spraying.
- Keep records of sprays and dates for better planning.

🐔 Early Signs of Coccidiosis in Chickens

Watch for these symptoms, especially in young birds (2–8 weeks old):

- Bloody or watery diarrhea
- Lethargy and drooping wings
- Loss of appetite and weight
- Pale combs and wattles
- Ruffled feathers
- Huddling or isolation from the flock
- Reduced growth and poor feed conversion

These signs often appear 4–7 days after infection. The disease spreads quickly in warm, moist environments with poor sanitation.

---

💊 Treatment Options

If you suspect coccidiosis, act fast:

Treatment | Description | How to use
Amprolium (e.g., Amprol 25%) | Blocks parasite’s vitamin B1 uptake | Add to drinking water for 5–7 days
Toltrazuril (e.g., Baycox) | Kills all stages of coccidia | Oral dose once daily for 2 days
Sulfa drugs (e.g., Sulfadimethoxine)
Antibacterial and anticoccidial

- Isolate sick birds and

🛡️ Prevention Strategies

To protect your flock long-term:

- Use medicated chick starter feed (with coccidiostats like Amprolium or Monensin).
- Vaccinate day-old chicks if available—especially for large flocks.
- Practice deep litter management: keep bedding dry and change regularly.
- Rotate pasture or pens to reduce oocyst buildup.
- Avoid overcrowding and ensure good ventilation.
