Blissful Get-Away.!
We saw reviews on about this beautiful beach (the furthest beach from Sihanoukville) and we decided it’ll do us some good to stay for 2 nights away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
We took our experience further whereby we stayed one night in their Seafront tent and another night in their jungle room and I must say, this stay is one of the best I’ve had in so many years.!
To reach this island, we contacted the Tamu Resort team and we get to choose either to arrive via Royal sands boat (Private speedboat) at a pricier end or via the Speedferry Cambodia, where they only depart twice a day and relatively unreliable with their schedule.
We opted for the Royal sands boat (they have a pretty comfortable waiting lounge and we were ferried directly to the island).
After 1 hour of gruelling ride with very choppy waves (we travelled during monsoon season…oh well), we finally reached the island with friendly porters already waiting for our arrival and assisted us with our luggage to the resort.!
Check-in was a breeze and we were captivated by how modern the resort was, built amongst the trees and pristine beach without losing a touch of cosiness.
The dining tables are literally set on top of fine sand and you can just walk around and enjoy your food without any footwear.
Dinner was served with great ambience where fairy lights were lit up along the trees, loungers and dining area at night, with soft crashes of waves in the background.
It’s a beautiful experience especially if you have lived a city life for a long time.
They offer free kayaking and snorkelling activities, bioluminescent plankton tours and massage service as well.
But even without doing much, just a good swim, a good book and good coffee / cocktail will suffice to recharge your soul.
All in all, it is sheer bliss to be on this island, to the point I thought to myself how wonderful it would be if I can have my wedding here.!
Sharing is Caring:
- Seafront tents have a more unique staying experience compared to the jungle room. We enjoyed our tent a lot. Just prepare mosquito coils and repellents. The mozzies mean business.
- We did our plankton tour at USD$8 per pax (It will be more expensive if there are no other bookings by other guests)
We were longtail-boated further out into the sea where there were lesser light pollution. However note that the bioluminescence from the planktons will only light up when you splash around the water.
We were given snorkelling gears but we were uncomfortable jumping into the waters in the dark. Hence we were just splashing around onboard. The effect is less significant compared to when you snorkel.
- The resort next to Tamu has beautiful Cabanas, swing chairs and swings in the sea that can occupy your morning taking your picture-perfect holiday shots.
There is a night spinning bar / pub in the next resort as well for those who wants a tinge of partying amongst nature.
Shout out to the friendly staffs, helping us to move our luggage from the seafront tent to the jungle room while we enjoyed our breakfast and hang out at the beach.
Shoutout to Nin.! Who assisted us throughout our stay and always at all smiles.!
Shoutout to Marion.! Who sorted our transport from Sihanoukville airport to the port within minutes from my email as we were unable to find our cab driver.
Shoutout to the guy (can't rmber his name) who helped us in all logistic matters during our stay including making sure we have a returned boat to Sihanoukville arranged, escorting us around the resort to our rooms / massage / pier where the plankton tour starts.!
