We would like to announce the temporary closure of our tourism services at Phouphangam mountain in Mouang Keo village as of tomorrow (10th July, 2020) until further notice to undergo renovations at our destination. We also hope to take this as an opportunity to minimise our human impact on the natural environment from our tours because we believe nature deserves a break too! 💛

⚠️ Please note: This applies for the entire Phouphangam mountain area where it will be forbidden to carry out tour services of any sort

After a few quiet months and the lockdown finally lifted, we’re delighted to be slowly opening up our services again! 😍🙌🏼
With that being said, we still would like to advise our guests to consider taking the following measures to ensure their own safety while taking our tours:
☀️ Stick to small group numbers (no larger than 10 people)
☀️ Bring your own hand sanitisers
☀️ Avoid sharing items that put you in direct contact with others (e.g. sharing water bottles, using the same food utensils)
☀️ When engaging with our tour guides or local villages, try to maintain appropriate distance
☀️ Consider bringing a face mask if you feel you may be a risk to others

With Luang Prabang currently on lockdown, we hope that all of you are staying safe indoors wherever that may be at the moment 🙏🏽
Most of our workers have returned back to their home villages and are now reunited with their families and loved ones 🥰 Their time now is usually spent planting and foraging for food as well as doing other local activities in their homes to keep their hands busy ⛏

Have you heard about the legendary tale of the almighty giant on Phouphangam mountain? 👹⛰
Legend goes that a massive giant lives up on the mountain, serving as a guardian or protector of the forest. Villagers said that the giant would only appear when someone attempted to harm or destroy the area by scaring them away! If you're lucky, you might still even be able to hear the giants' distant roar echoing through the forest when going up the mountain! 👀

It all began on the mountain...

Morning Glow Mountain Trek all started with three locals – Mr. Sang (CEO/founder), Mr. Bo (business partner) and Mr. Ti (business partner). The trio all had the same vision in wanting to give back to the local community, especially in the small village of Baan Mouang Keo in Pak Ou (30km away from the Luang Prabang city centre).

With Sang’s grandmother originating from the village herself, his family ties further inspired him and his fellow partners to seize the opportunity to develop the village. Through the help of the team and others outside the company, the team developed their mission – to preserve and share the culture of their beautiful home with others, side by side with the local community. Through the creation of Morning Glow mountain trek, the team was able to transform their dreams into a reality.

Today, Morning Glow Mountain Trek offers 1 to 3 day tours. Find yourself surrounded by beautiful jungle gardens, cooking up hearty traditional meals and gazing over gorgeous sunsets overviewing the Mekong and Ou Rivers! Spend the night and be blown away by millions of stars and wake up to a breathtaking sea of clouds!

We are also striving to integrate ecotourism practices. For us this means providing responsible travel to natural areas, minimising our impact on the environment and providing economic opportunities. We hope that in the long-term we will be able to maintain this approach so that we can sustain the natural environment of Ban Mouang village in the many years to come.
