Hidden amidst the lush green tea plantations and misty pine forests of Ella, the Nine Arch Bridge is one of Sri Lanka’s most breathtaking colonial-era engineering feats. Built in 1921 entirely from stone bricks and cement—without using a single piece of steel—this 24-meter-high viaduct curves gracefully across a deep mountain valley.

Rich in Sri Lankan mythology, local folklore ties this site to the epic Ramayana legend, where King Ravana is said to have hidden Princess Sita in the nearby caves.
