Dutch Square (Red Square) - Melaka

Located in the heart of Melaka’s historic centre, the Red Square also known as Dutch Square is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Surrounded by striking red colonial buildings, it reflects Melaka’s rich Dutch and British colonial heritage and is a popular starting point for exploring the city’s UNESCO-listed historic area.

The Stadthuys (built in 1650) is the oldest surviving Dutch/VOC building in Asia, while Christ Church (completed in 1753) is Malaysia’s oldest functioning Protestant church. Though famous for their vibrant red facades today, both landmarks were originally painted white and were painted red in 1911. 🏛️

Framing the square are two other historic gems: the elegant Queen Victoria Fountain, erected in the early 1900s as a memorial to Queen Victoria, and the red Tan Beng Swee Clock Tower (1886), built by Tan Jiak Kim in memory of his father, a prominent Straits Chinese/Peranakan figure.

Federal Territory Mosque - Kuala Lumpur

Located on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, near the MATRADE and government complex, the Federal Territory Mosque (Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan) is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most beautiful mosques. Its stunning architecture blends Ottoman, Malay and Middle Eastern influences, with 22 domes surrounded by peaceful gardens earning it the nickname “Jewel of Kuala Lumpur.”

What makes the visit even more special is the free guided Mosque Tour Programme, open to visitors of all backgrounds. The approximately 45-minute tour introduces the mosque’s history, architecture and an overview of Islam, with volunteers serving as guides. Visitors are also provided with appropriate robes and headscarves.

A beautiful place not only to admire the architecture, but also to learn, experience and appreciate Malaysia’s Islamic culture.

Stamp Hunt Continues in Ipoh 📮🇲🇾

Stopped by WuJu Studio just a few minutes before closing, and luckily, they were still offering free stamping! There were so many unique postcards and stickers to choose from, and I picked up a Malaysia food-themed card to take a little taste of the local food vibe home. 🍜🇲🇾

WuJu Studio is a creative art space built around the idea of freedom and self-expression, making it a lovely little stop for anyone who enjoys art, postcards, and creative experiences.

Petronas Twin Towers 🇲🇾✨

Standing at 451.9 metres, the Petronas Twin Towers are one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see when visiting the city.

📸 For the best views, check out the spots in front of NZ Curry House, around Public Bank, or KLCC Park.

There are also photographers around these spots who can take a photo of you with the towers in the background around RM5 during the day and RM10 at night.
