Diesel in Poland dropped by 1.40 zł per litre in eight days. Good news, but for transport companies it is smaller than it looks.

If you are VAT-registered, most of that drop is VAT you would have reclaimed anyway. The real saving is about 0.26 zł per litre, or roughly 79 zł per 1,000 km for a 40-tonne truck.

We broke down what changed on 3 October, what it means per truck, and what to plan for before the cut ends on 31 December.

Read it on the LoadPlan blog:

Polish diesel fell 1.40 zł per litre after the 3 October tax cut, but a VAT-registered carrier saves only about 0.26 zł. What changed, the per-truck numbers, and what to plan for before 31 December.

⛽ Crude is down. Diesel isn't. Here's why that matters.

Brent crude fell to $82.07 this morning — around 27% below its wartime peak of $113. But if you're running trucks across Europe, you already know the pump hasn't moved anything like that fast.

Fuel prices rise like rockets and fall like feathers. And in Europe, the picture is further complicated by price caps in some markets and full market pricing in others.

What this means right now:

✅ Fuel surcharges are still indexed to a crude level that no longer exists
✅ Carriers who absorbed the spike on fixed contracts haven't recovered it
✅ Shippers are about to start asking for rate reductions
✅ The Hormuz situation is still unresolved — pricing long contracts on today's number is risky

Carriers — what are you actually paying at the pump this week?

Brent crude is down 27% from its wartime peak but EU diesel is down only 8%. Why refining margins, fixed per-litre taxes, and price lag keep diesel high — and what freight operators should do.

Question for the forwarders here. We all quote 33 euro pallets for a 13.6m trailer, but how often do you actually load 33?
Most loads weigh out first. The crossover is around 727 kg per pallet (24t across 33 positions). Lighter and you cube out, heavier and you leave with empty floor.
Quick breakdown here: https://loadplan.eu/blog/euro-pallets-truck
On your lanes, space or weight you run out of first?

The textbook answer is 33. The real answer depends on weight, stackability, and axle limits. Learn how the number is calculated and why it is wrong more often than it is right.

🚛 Empty kilometres are killing European trucking margins in 2026.

With diesel above €2/litre, German tolls at €0.40–0.50/km, and Polish e-TOLL rates up 40% since February, a single 500 km empty return now costs operators around €650 — in real money.

For a 20-truck fleet running at 25% empty rate, that's almost €1 million per year. Wasted.

The European average sits at 20%. Best-in-class operators run below 12%.

We just published a practical guide on how to close that gap:

✅ The real cost of empty kilometres in 2026
✅ Six root causes (most are fixable)
✅ Five strategies that actually work
✅ A diagnostic checklist for dispatchers

🚛 New in LoadPlan: Manual drag & drop is live

Sometimes the auto-pack algorithm gets it 95% right — but you need to move that one heavy pallet over the drive axle, or pull the ADR cargo to the door, or reorganise by unloading sequence.
Now you can. Just grab and drop.
✅ Full drag & drop control over every item
✅ R to rotate, F to flip, arrows to nudge (Shift = 100mm precision)
✅ LDM, weight, and axle loads update live as you move
✅ Combine auto-pack speed with manual fine-tuning
Auto-pack when you want speed. Manual when you need control. Both modes work together.

Available now in your LoadPlan dashboard.
