3-Day Fes → Merzouga → Fes Itinerary
Day 1: Fes to Erg Chebbi
The Route: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga.
The Experience: You’ll transition from the lush Middle Atlas forests to the palm-filled gorges of the south.
The Evening: Arrive in Merzouga, mount your camel, and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets.
Overnight: Dinner and Berber music at your Desert Camp.
Day 2: 4x4 Desert Discovery & Deep Sahara
Khamlia Village: Start your day with the soulful, rhythmic Gnawa music of the local community.
Nomad Visit: Drive across the black desert (hamada) to meet a nomadic family. You'll sit in their traditional hand-woven tents and learn how they survive in the harsh Saharan climate.
Desert Lunch: Enjoy a traditional meal (often Berber Pizza) in a local village.
Afternoon: Explore the Mifis lead and zinc mines, which were once worked by the French, or take a short hike on the high dunes.
Overnight: A second night at the camp allows you to see the stars without the "arrival rush."
Day 3: Merzouga to Fes
The Sunrise: An absolute must-see before breakfast.
Erfoud: Instead of the market in Rissani, we head straight to Erfoud, the "Fossil Capital." You can stop briefly at a workshop to see how the ancient marine fossils are extracted from the local stone.
The Journey North: Continue through the Ziz Gorges and the High Atlas foothills.
Lunch: A midday break in Midelt or Zaida.
Arrival: You’ll reach Fes in the early evening
