A Hidden Monastery in the Mountains

There are places in Mongolia that even some people who have already visited the country have never heard of.
Aglag Buteel Monastery is one of them.
Leaving Ulaanbaatar behind, the road slowly takes us away from the noise of the city and into the mountains. The rocky landscape, unusual rock formations and silence of the Mongolian countryside become part of the journey.
The road to the monastery is already a small adventure. Walking along the paths, you can discover unusual rock formations, carvings and Buddhist symbols hidden among the rocks.
Here, nature and spirituality seem to become one.
And perhaps this is one of the things I love most about Mongolia.
You never quite know what you will find around the next bend.
It might be an endless steppe.
A nomadic family living in a ger.
An ancient historical site.
Or a special place like this, hidden among the mountains.
Mongolia is not just a country to visit. It is a country to discover.

Where Mountains, Eagles and Freedom Meet

Some days become memories that stay with us forever. The past two days have been exactly like that.

We left Bayan-Ölgii and travelled towards Tsengel village, covering around 150 kilometres through some of the most remote and breathtaking landscapes of western Mongolia, all the way towards the Chinese border.

The journey took us through winding mountain roads, endless valleys, crystal-clear streams and mountains that are still covered with snow even in summer.

One of the greatest experiences was being welcomed by Kazakh golden eagle hunters. We had the chance to learn about their traditions, wear their beautiful traditional clothing, and hold these magnificent birds of prey on our arms.

The night was spent in tents beside Har Nuur Lake, with the majestic Tsengel Khairkhan Mountain rising above us, still covered in snow. As the evening arrived, the silence of the mountains, the calm waters of the lake and the vastness of Mongolia created an unforgettable atmosphere.

Today we returned to Bayan-Ölgii, but a part of us is still somewhere among those mountains.

Mongolia is not only a destination. It is an experience – a journey into ancient traditions, breathtaking landscapes and a way of life that is slowly disappearing in many parts of the world.

Central Mongolia is what is commonly referred to as the Khangai region. The word Khangai loosely translates to "fertile" and indeed, it is characterized by lush green meadows, crystal clear streams, wide lakes and gurgling rivers.

🌸 Mongólia – a vadvirágok földje 🌸

Sokan a végtelen sztyeppékre, a Góbi homokdűnéire és a nomádok világára gondolnak, ha Mongóliát említik. Pedig kevesen tudják, hogy tavasszal és nyáron az egész ország virágba borul.

A sivatag peremén apró sárga és lila vadvirágok táncolnak a szélben, északon a hegyek lábánál alpesi rétek nyílnak, a tavak partján pedig számtalan különleges vadvirág festi színesre a tájat.

Ez az az időszak, amikor Mongólia igazán életre kel. Illatok, színek és a természet csendes harmóniája vesz körül. Lovaglás közben vagy egy rövid pihenő alkalmával, a virágmezőkön sétálva az ember úgy érzi, mintha minden egyes szirom egy új történetet mesélne.
