📢Tropical Alert: Organized LPA Now Growing in Central Indian Basin (Invest 92S)🌏

Summary of Incident/ Event
The lower clouds gathering in the central Indian Ocean basin, which we began closely investigating on December 5, have now become better organized and more closely gathered, as observed in current satellite images. Due to this improved organization, we are now identifying this system as a growing Low Pressure Area (LPA) in the South Indian Ocean, currently designated as Invest 92S.
As of 00:00 UTC December 10, 2025, Invest 92S was located near 7.5°S, 81.2°E. The system currently has maximum sustained surface winds estimated at 15 knots (around 30 km/h) and a minimum sea-level pressure of about 1009 hPa. While the system is currently slowly drifting eastward, its prominent path will be determined over the next 3-4 days after it intensifies into a tropical system. The overall chance of development for this system within 48 hours is currently assessed as Low.
Details If there are any impact
The long-range forecast for tropical development in the South Indian Ocean remains complex. The most favored area for tropical cyclone (TC) development during the coming weeks is generally to the northwest of Australia and the southeastern Indian Ocean. However, the continued monitoring of this LPA is crucial because should it rapidly intensify and track southwestward, it could eventually pose a threat to the South-West Indian Ocean island nations.

While the chance of immediate, significant development within next 48hours for Invest 92S is low at this time, the public and maritime interests in the Central and South Indian Ocean should maintain vigilance.
