Muliaage is the official residence of the President of the Maldives. Located in the heart of Male, Muliaage lies in close proximity to the Friday Mosque and the Grand Minaret of Male, also known as Munnaru.

Construction of the Muliaage was started in 1914 and was completed in 1919. The architecture of the Muliaage is highly reminiscent of the kind of buildings built during the colonial era in Sri Lanka. The Muliaage is very grand and spectacular in apparence and has been home to four Presidents of the Maldives till date.

Unfortunately entry to the Muliaage is not allowed for visitiors and one can only admire the building from outside.

The golden dome of this impressive modern mosque dominates the skyline of Male and has become something of a symbol for the city. Opened in 1984 and built with help from the Gulf States, Pakistan, Brunei and Malaysia, the Grand Friday Mosque is striking in its plainness, built in white marble and virtually free from decoration. Set back off the main square, Jumhooree Maidan, it is the biggest mosque in the country.
