Fifteen years ago, the Maldives did something few nations have: it banned shark fishing across its waters and let the reefs recover.

This is what that decision looks like now. Grey reef sharks patrolling the channels in numbers that stop you mid-descent, not fleeing away from divers, not baited in, just living where they've always lived.
