New CBP IOR Enforcement | Effective Sep 18, 2026 🚨

US CBP will launch stricter IOR verification for all import filings. Any incomplete, inaccurate or untraceable Importer of Record information will be voided immediately, blocking further U.S. customs entries.

Invalid IORs will be deactivated without prior notice, easily causing cargo detention, high demurrage fees and peak-season shipment delays.

CBP is tightening real importer accountability and phasing out loose IOR loopholes. Moving forward, verified and compliant IOR records will be the core foundation of stable US import logistics.

Quick Compliance Checklist ✅
1. Review your latest Form 5106 IOR records
2. Confirm all entity info (tax ID, address, contact) is fully consistent
3. Audit ongoing shipments for IOR matching issues
4. Avoid unclear/shared IOR & undocumented POA
5. Complete shipment document archives for customs inquiryPeak season is coming.

Proactive compliance is the best way to avoid unexpected losses.

Amazon has rolled out critical updates to its commercial liability insurance policy, raising the compliance bar for third-party sellers operating on its US marketplace.

Previously, sellers only needed to maintain $1M commercial liability insurance (per occurrence & aggregate limit) if their monthly Amazon sales exceeded $10,000 within 30 days.

The key new change is a sales-threshold-exempt insurance mandate: All sellers dealing with high-risk, safety-sensitive product categories are now required to hold the same $1M coverage, regardless of sales volume.

This rule applies to both existing and new product listings, covering children’s products, cosmetics & ingestible goods, and transportation-related items. Sellers have a 60-day transition window to complete compliance adjustments after receiving official notifications.

This policy upgrade is a reasonable and forward-looking risk control move by Amazon. It shifts the platform’s compliance logic from a simple revenue-based standard to a product-risk-oriented governance model.

Cross-border merchants should actively review their insurance configuration in advance to avoid account risks and operational disruptions amid the policy transition.

Port of Long Beach hit a new August container throughput record in 2026 — also the 5th busiest month across its 115-year history.

The port handled 919,992 TEUs in August, a 2% year-over-year increase despite ongoing tariff and geopolitical uncertainties.

Breakdown for August:
✅ Import loaded containers: 456,100 TEUs (+3.6% YoY)
✅ Export loaded containers: 99,754 TEUs (+4% YoY)
✅ Empty containers: 364,138 TEUs (-0.39% YoY)

For Jan-Aug 2026, cumulative volume reached 6,678,078 TEUs, up 1.3% compared with the same period last year.

This positive cargo growth shows resilient US supply chain demand. The solid rise in both import and export loaded boxes reflects active trans-Pacific trade flows. Even amid market headwinds, retailers and manufacturers keep adjusting their shipping schedules to maintain inventory stability.

For freight forwarders and logistics players, it’s a strong signal to keep an eye on West Coast port capacity and schedule reliability for the rest of 2026.

As the 2026 holiday selling season (Black Friday, Cyber Monday & Christmas) approaches, Amazon US has officially rolled out its2026 peak seasonal fulfillment fee adjustment, bringing dual cost pressure for cross-border sellers.

The new holiday peak fees will run fromOctober 15, 2026, to January 14, 2027, covering Amazon FBA, Remote Fulfillment, MCF, and Buy with Prime services across the US marketplace.

Amazon states the seasonal rate brings anaverage increase of $0.32 per unit compared to off-peak pricing. Importantly, this is only a market average — actual fees vary significantly based on product category (apparel, low-priced FBA goods), final packaged size tier, and shipping weight, rather than a flat universal surcharge.

It’s worth recalling that a permanent3.5% fuel & logistics surchargehas already been applied to US and Canadian FBA orders since April 17, 2026. This is where the biggest cost insight lies:the 3.5% percentage surcharge is calculated on top of the upgraded peak holiday fulfillment fee, not the regular base rate.

In short, sellers cannot simply budget an extra $0.32 per unit for Q4. The overlapping of tiered seasonal fees and percentage-based fuel surcharges will createamplified margin compression, especially for standard and oversize items with heavier weight and larger dimensions.

From an operational perspective, this layered pricing structure reflects Amazon’s continued strategy of passing rising logistics costs onto sellers during peak demand periods. Q4 2026 will require more precisepricing strategy, inventory planning, and profit margin control to maintain profitability amid stacked fulfillment fees.

Breaking U.S. trade update: The U.S. Department of Commerce has officially revoked both anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing (CVD) duties on walk-behind lawn mowers and related components imported from China and Vietnam, following a completed sunset review.

This removal takes effect for all goods entering the U.S. or withdrawn from warehouses on and after July 13, 2026. Duties previously paid on post-effective-date shipments are eligible for refunds per official CBP clearance instructions. Shipments entered before this cutoff remain subject to the original duty rules.

The termination covers all core walk-behind mower products, including self-propelled & non-self-propelled models, internal combustion mowers under 3.7kW (max 196cc displacement), semi-finished units, and key components such as blades, handles, grass bags and wheels, under relevant HTSUS tariff lines.

The original punitive tariffs were extremely prohibitive: Chinese mowers faced combined AD/CVD rates up to 280.04%, while Vietnamese products were subject to 148.35%–176.37% anti-dumping duties. These harsh levies have constrained trans-Pacific lawn equipment trade for nearly 5 years since the original 2021 tariff order.

From an industry perspective, this is a major reset for the U.S. outdoor power equipment supply chain. The removal stems from a lack of substantive responses from U.S. domestic stakeholders during the 2026 sunset review, signaling local industries no longer pursue trade barrier protections for this category.

This policy shift eliminates massive cost pressure, restores pricing competitiveness for imported lawn mowers, and will revitalize cross-border trade in the global garden equipment sector. It creates a much more open, stable and predictable trading environment for international suppliers and U.S. buyers a like.

YouTube has expanded its US Shopping Affiliate Program. Eligible creators can now tag Amazon products directly within videos and earn commissions on resulting orders.

Per YouTube’s announcement, qualified US creators may add Amazon product tags to Shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams. Viewers can discover and purchase items through these in-video tags, removing the old workflow of placing Amazon Associates links only in video descriptions. This native tagging creates a much smoother path from product recommendation to checkout.

Amazon will provide a curated catalog of trending and high-demand goods for creators to tag. If a desired product is not listed, creators can reach out to YouTube support to request its addition.YouTube also offers auto-tagging: once enabled, the system scans recently uploaded videos to identify and tag qualifying Amazon products automatically.

👉 This native integration greatly shortens the buyer journey and unlocks huge social commerce potential for Amazon sellers. It makes creator-driven product marketing more actionable, which is excellent news for brands selling into the US market.

What do you think this partnership means for cross-border brands and creator marketing strategies? Comment below.

U.S. CBP has officially released a federal notice titledAccuracy of Importer of Record Data Submitted toCBP, rolling out enhanced verification procedures for all Importer of Record (IOR) identity information.

EffectiveSeptember 18, CBP is shifting its inspection focus from cargo-only checks to rigorous verification of theimporter entity itself. Regardless of previous operational practices, every detail submitted for IOR registration must beauthentic, verifiable, and legally belonging to the importing entity.

To obtain valid IOR qualification and conduct U.S. import business, importers or their licensed customs brokers must submit a fully completedCBPForm 5106 (Importer ID Registration Form), covering mandatory details:

✅ Importer legal name
✅ Valid EIN, SSN, or CBP-assigned ID number
✅ Mailing address & physical business address (dual verification)
✅ Official phone number & email address

The form also supports optional supplementary information, including corporate structure, business scope, beneficial owners, and executive details for further compliance validation.

This new rule marks a major upgrade in U.S. import compliance supervision. It eliminates informal and proxy IOR registration practices, raising the entry threshold for cross-border shipments. For global brands and e-commerce sellers shipping to the U.S., standardized, truthful IOR filing is no longer optional but mandatory to avoid customs delays and compliance risks.

As a professional cross-border logistics provider, we help our clients standardize IOR registration and document filing to ensure full compliance with the latest CBP regulations and stabilize their U.S. supply chain operations.

How are you optimizing your IOR compliance strategy for the new policy? Let’s discuss below.

Amazon recently rolled out “Sub Same Day”, its new ultra‑fast fulfillment service promising customer deliveries within 2‑5 hours.

Per Amazon’s official data, eligible products under Sub Same Day deliver an average 12% sales lift compared with standard FBA.

This speed boost relies on metro‑near fulfillment centers located much closer to end consumers. However, these urban facilities come with limited storage capacity. Amazon continuously reviews qualifying ASINs based on local demand, inventory distribution and warehouse capacity.

Delivery speed is quickly turning into table stakes for Amazon sellers. While the 12% sales upside looks attractive, entry is not guaranteed. Sellers cannot manually opt‑in; eligibility depends heavily on category fit and tight inventory planning for metropolitan zones. Brands should watch this program closely, especially for fast‑moving consumer goods targeting dense urban markets.

The Panama Canal Authority has rolled out phased transit restrictions amid severe drought triggered by persistent El Niño conditions.

Official reports show that from May to August this year, cumulative rainfall across the canal watershed was 34% below the historical average, with watershed inflows dropping sharply by 44%.

Normally‑expected rainy‑season water supplies have failed to materialize, putting heavy pressure on reservoir water levels. To conserve freshwater resources while safeguarding navigation safety and operational sustainability, the authority is tightening vessel transit quotas in two phases.

Starting September 4: 9 daily slots for Neopanamax locks, 25 for traditional Panamax locks, totalling around 34 transits per day.

Starting September 15: Panamax lock slots cut to 23, bringing overall daily capacity down to roughly 32 vessels.

Freight rates are already reflecting supply‑chain pressure. Per Drewry World Container Index for the week of August 20:
Shanghai‑Los Angeles 40ft container spot rate rose 9% to $6,802
Shanghai‑New York 40ft container spot rate climbed 9% to $9,507
By contrast, Shanghai‑Rotterdam edged down 1% to $4,401

Climate‑driven disruptions at key maritime chokepoints are becoming a recurring risk for global trade. The rate divergence across trade lanes clearly shows how Panama Canal capacity constraints disproportionately impact Asia‑US routes. Shippers need to build extra lead‑time buffers, evaluate alternative routing options, and closely monitor further water‑level updates in the coming months.

According to Similarweb’s June 2026 ranking of worldwide e-commerce websites by traffic:
Amazon claims the No.1 spot, followed by Temu, eBay, AliExpress and Ozon. Notably,Temu has secured the second position for three consecutive months.

Breaking down Temu’s desktop traffic:
The US contributes 25.86% of visits. Germany accounts for 5.95%, the UK 5.57%, Canada 4.50% and France 4.15%. Collectively, all other markets make up more than half of its desktop traffic. While the US remains its largest single source, Europe and diversified secondary markets are jointly supporting its massive visitor base.

Beyond web traffic, Temu maintains strong traction on mobile. Per Sensor Tower’s 2026 e-commerce report, Temu ranks 2nd globally in total users across website and mobile app. Its mobile monthly active users rose 24% year-on-year. This proves its second-place standing is not driven solely by web visits — the app continues to attract consistent new users.

Temu’s balanced growth across North America, Europe and emerging markets signals its strategy to reduce reliance on a single market. Rising traffic on both web and mobile translates into sustained order demand. For cross-border sellers, flexible, reliable global logistics covering the US and key European countries will become a fundamental advantage to capture opportunities on this fast-expanding platform.
