World Manta Day!

Celebrating these magnificent & beautiful creatures we’ve been able to observe in their habitats in many parts of the world. From Maldives to Socorro to Raja Ampat and beyond, reef mantas are vulnerable and oceanic mantas are endangered. There are so many people & organizations that have been working together to protect this important species.

We are lucky to be visitors & observers in their home, and happen to be headed back to the Maldives next week to see them again! 😍

What’s your favorite manta memory?

Moments like this make you realize how small we really are. 🐋✨

During one of our recent ocean safari days in the Sea of Cortez with we had the ultimate surprise, s***m whales, lots of them!

We came across this beautiful pod calmly cruising the channel between Isla Cerralvo & mainland Baja California Sur near La Ventana. S***m whales frequent this area for the deep canyons that provide food (squid & fish). They can dive up to 3,000 feet to hunt in the deep dark waters.

They come up to the surface to rest and breathe in these sheltered and calm waters, offering a great place to recover and raise their babies.

Words can’t describe the surprise & awe when we carefully slid into the water and saw mom with baby come into view along with other females! Little did we know, our other boat also captured the moment from above. Thank You . Many tears of joy were shed in our masks! 🥹🥰🤩

🇨🇦 ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ᴄᴀɴᴀᴅᴀ ᴅᴀʏ 🇨🇦

We're just back from incredible week in La Ventana and the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. Spending our days on the water in true "safari mode" much like it sounds, an ocean safari resembles a land based safari except, (you guessed it), you're spending time searching for marine life via boat. 👀 Small groups per boat offer us more in the water time, ample room to move around to spot marine life, and even catch the occasional catnap after a snorkel. We can't thank our local and certified guides , , and for their knowledge, eagle eye spotting (along with our captains), hours upon hours they spend in/on the sea, and for capturing tons of great photos/videos during our expedition!

Some of our marine life highlights this trip: Spine Tail Devil Rays(mobula mobular), Pygmy Devil Rays (mobula munkiana), Cownose Rays (Rhinoptera bonasus)
Bottlenose dolphins 🐬, Common dolphins 🐬, S***m whales 🐳
Sea lions 🦭, Diamond Squid 🦑, Octopus 🐙 Porcupine Fish (puffer fish) 🐡
Tons of birds: Cormorants, Brown Footed B***y, Yellow Footed B***y, Frigates, Vultures, Pelicans to name a few...

Our minds were blown to say the least! 🤯 Our home away from home, the beautiful and boutique hotel was a treat to return to everyday and nothing was too much trouble for the incredible staff. A huge thank you to everyone for truly unforgettable week! We can't wait to return next year!

Enjoy some photo highlights of our week!
📸 by everyone!

Thanks Vanessa, Terry, Annie, Susan, Robin, Shikhi, John and the Taylor family for joining a adventure! Can't wait to see you all on another one in the future! 🫶 🤿
