🌿 Meet Majo, a multidisciplinary artist in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, whose work spans ceramics, textiles, and interactive installations.

Guided by curiosity and a passion for blending mediums, Majo creates serene pieces that connect us to life’s essentials.

In her 6 day VAWAA apprenticeship, Majo will guide you in exploring ceramics, textiles, natural dyeing, or a combination of all three to craft unique artworks inspired by lush forests, magical waterfalls, and natural pools. You’ll do creative exercises, go on hikes, or rejuvenate with yoga or dance sessions if you like.

📍Located in Valle de Bravo, just outside Mexico City that makes for a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle.

🇯🇵 Yuko is a renowned paper artist celebrated for her innovative sculptures that push the boundaries of traditional origami into contemporary art. With a background in architecture and a passion for Japanese craftsmanship, Yuko’s intricate paper folds come to life, interacting with light to create depth and texture.

🌱Join Yuko in her Kawasaki studio, nestled between Tokyo and Yokohama, to explore the art of paper folding, traditional Japanese etiquette, and sustainable paper-making techniques. Visit paper exhibitions in Tokyo or join her for a visit to Tosa Washi makers in Kochi Prefecture.

Discover the magic of playing with clay in Slovenia! 🇸🇮

🏺Get a glimpse of VAWAA guest Andrea’s experience, delving deep into the world of pottery with product designer Katja. Through her guidance, Andrea learnt various hand building and wheel throwing skills. She said “It was fantastic—I learned so much. Katja’s guidance was patient and thorough, making each step of the process both fun and rewarding. She is a fantastic teacher and the most lovely person.”

✨Inspired by Katja’s tremendously versatile clay modeling approach, she discovered many possibilities and a range of expressions within every ceramic work.

Besides that, she shared –“One of the most memorable moments was when Katja took me on a small tour of the area. It is absolutely gorgeous. The natural scenery was breathtaking, and I loved trying the delicious local food. It was a perfect blend of artistic exploration and cultural immersion. The cozy apartment where I stayed was the cherry on top—it had everything I needed and added to the overall charm of the experience. Also, I completely fell in love with Slovenia and I can’t wait to return!” 🫶

Andrea’s journey was not just about creating art, but forming lasting connections and cherishing shared experiences.
