“Sarapan, Semangat, Merdeka”: Fuelling our Hauliers, Fuelling The Nation’s Spirit

A simple breakfast. A heartfelt thank you. A shared spirit of Merdeka.

On the morning of 24 August 2026, Johor Port celebrated the people who keep our cargo and the nation’s trade moving through "Sarapan Bersama Johor Port", held at the Old Checkpoint 2.

300 breakfast packs of Nasi Lemak, assorted Malay kuih and a warm cup of teh tarik were distributed to our valued hauliers together with the Jalur Gemilang, as a token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

We were glad to have our leadership joined in and personally hand out the breakfast packs. They included Vimal Kumar Selvabalakrishnan, Head of Operations Division, K C Low, Head of Corporate Services Division, Juhaimi Hashim, HOD of JCT, Mohd Rafizal Esmail, HOD of BBT, Tn Jamaludin Raja Mohamad, Head of Port Security & Safety and Azamuddin Khalid from KBA Conventional.

Our hauliers are an essential part of the Johor Port family, keeping cargo moving day and night. This Merdeka, we take a moment to say a sincere “Terima Kasih” for their continued commitment.

In the spirit of empowering local entrepreneurship, the breakfast packs were specially catered by our RATU 2026 participants, turning this campaign into another opportunity to support the women entrepreneurs we are nurturing through the program.

Selamat Hari Kebangsaan ke-69! May the Merdeka spirit continues to unite us.

NEW CRANES, STRONGER CAPABILITIES: ADVANCING JOHOR PORT’S CONVENTIONAL TERMINAL

We are pleased to welcome the first two of four new Level Luffing Cranes, marking an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen the capabilities of our Conventional Terminal.

Manufactured by SANY Group, the new cranes are designed to enhance cargo-handling capacity, operational efficiency and safety while supporting improved vessel turnaround and more reliable services for our customers.

Our technical team, together with representatives from SANY, will now undertake the offloading, installation, testing and commissioning works. The first two cranes are targeted to be fully operational by 20 September 2026, while the remaining two units are expected to arrive on 11 October 2026.

More than an equipment upgrade, this milestone reflects Johor Port’s commitment to building a more productive, resilient and future-ready Conventional Terminal to meet evolving customer needs and support future trade growth.

FROM BUSINESS IDEAS TO SUSTAINABLE INCOME: RATU 2026 BUILDS STRONGER WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

A successful business takes more than a good idea. It requires the right knowledge to market effectively, operate efficiently and manage finances wisely.

RATU 2026 participants and their mentors recently came together at Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) for the Kursus Intensif Perniagaan – Kursus Asas Segi 3 Bisnes, which focused on three essential pillars of entrepreneurship, Marketing, Operations and Finance.

Guided by Puan Norazlina Najmudin (Coach Azs) from Rich Academy & Training Centre, participants gained practical insights to help them make informed decisions, strengthen their businesses and develop more sustainable sources of income.

The mentors also attended the program, learning alongside their mentees and strengthening the relationships that will support each participant throughout her entrepreneurial journey.

More than developing business skills, RATU is about building confidence, creating opportunities and empowering women to shape stronger futures for themselves and their families.

Stronger Skills. Sustainable Businesses. Empowered Women.

NEW REGIONAL FEEDER CONNECTION: JOHOR PORT WELCOMES MV BATAMINDO LEO ON HER MAIDEN CALL

Every maiden call marks the beginning of a new journey—and a stronger connection.

Johor Port was honoured to welcome MV Batamindo Leo, a 220 TEU vessel, on her maiden call on 10 August 2026. The vessel berthed at Johor Port’s Container Terminal (JCT) Wharf at 5.00 pm, marking the start of a new regional feeder service.

The maiden call ceremony began with a welcome meeting between our CEO, Md Derick Basir and Michael Tan, Managing Director of Sea Empress Sdn Bhd, representing the vessel’s operator. The Sea Empress delegation was also given a scenic port viewing from the rooftop of Wisma Kontena, followed by an exchange of mementos between Johor Port and Sea Empress to commemorate the milestone.

The celebration continued at JCT Wharf, where representatives from Johor Port and Sea Empress captured the historic moment of Batamindo Leo's arrival and berthing on camera.

MV Batamindo Leo will operate on a 12-day rotation connecting Pasir Gudang – Kuala Tanjung – Port Klang – Kuala Tanjung – Pasir Gudang. The new service will enhance connectivity between Malaysia and Indonesia while further strengthening Johor Port’s role as key regional feeder hub connecting Malaysia and Indonesia.

We look forward to building a strong and lasting partnership with Sea Empress Sdn Bhd and the operators of MV Batamindo Leo as we work together to strengthen regional trade connectivity.

Here's to smooth sailing ahead!

FROM CAMPUS TO PORT: MMC SCHOLARS GAIN REAL-WORLD INDUSTRY INSIGHTS AT JOHOR PORT

For 17 MMC scholars, a day at Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) provided an opportunity to move beyond classroom learning and experience the maritime and logistics industry first-hand.

On 5 August 2026, Johor Port’s Human Capital Division welcomed scholars from Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for an Educational Sharing Session and Site Visit at the OASIS Training Hall. Representatives from MMC Group Human Capital, MMC Engineering and Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) also joined the programme.

The day began with welcoming remarks by Hermee Tahir, Head of Human Capital Division, Johor Port, who shared insights on talent development, career pathways and the importance of industry–academia collaboration.

The scholars then heard from Ir. Ts. Mohd Khairul Azizat Johari, Head of Facility Management Department, Johor Port, who shared practical insights on leadership, career growth, resilience and continuous learning.

Rohaizan Ta’juaid, Lead of JP Skills Centre, subsequently introduced the scholars to Johor Port’s diverse services, business segments and role as Malaysia’s Southern Gateway Multipurpose Port in supporting regional and national trade.

The programme culminated in a site visit, giving the scholars first-hand exposure to port operations and supporting facilities while connecting their academic knowledge with real-world practices.

More than an educational visit, the programme offered a clearer view of opportunities within the maritime and logistics industry and the roles they could play in shaping its future.

By opening its doors to emerging talent, Johor Port continues to support the development of skilled and industry-ready professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth.
