The NEW Mount Kinabalu Summit Trail, Ranau Trail, has re-opened since 1 December 2015.
There are 2 new trails which lead from Laban Rata to the peak, Kota Belud Trail, and Ranau Trail. Currently only Ranau Trail is completed and available to climbers. It is several hundred meters longer from the old summit trail providing a little more excitement. Only 120 climb permits will be issued per day by Sabah Parks.
Timpohon Trail from Kinabalu National Park is the main trail up to Laban Rata. Mesilau Trail from Mesilau Park is not repaired and remains closed.

Mount Kinabalu trails leading up to Laban Rata is now open! We have listed a brand new affordable program with a via ferrata teaser which will allow eager climbers to hike up one of South East Asia's tallest mountains again from Kinabalu Park!

A brand new trail from Laban Rata to the Mount Kinabalu summit is expected to open in December 2015. If so, participants can visit the highest point, Low's Peak, once again!

It is very sad to hear about lives lost from the Sabah earthquake. Our hearts and condolences go out to the victims families of the Mount Kinabalu tragedy. Our respect and admiration go out to all the rescuers, who may have been the mountain guides, workers on the mountain, and other visitors, who helped search and provided aid to those injured.
We hope Sabah and the rest of country will be able to recover from this tragic event soon.
