Why is it important to weigh goods at the dock?

Some customers require the cargo to be weighed within the port premises before the Bill of Lading can be issued. Additionally, if the cargo weight exceeds the limit set by the port authorities, the shipment may be rejected or subject to fines.
Therefore, weighing the goods before packing and shipment is essential to ensure compliance, prevent delays, and avoid unnecessary risks or penalties.

为何要在码头称重？
部分客户需要在港内称重，然后再出提单。
另外，如果发现超出港口制定标准的重量，相关部门有权拒绝这票货物或是罚款。

所以装箱前测好货物重量再出货是很有必要的，以避免一些不必要的风险。

What should we do if the Port of Klang has a 25-ton weight limit in September?

1. The announcement about the VGM weight limit of 25,000kgs was issued by the Malaysian Tractor Association, which is not a government department. The purpose of this announcement is to regulate its members and does not have binding effect on customers. The trucking companies should arrange suitable trucks based on the cargo weight indicated in the Container Manifest Order (CMO).
2. The Malaysian government departments still enforce the current weight limit regulations, which is a maximum capacity of no more than 38 tons on the basis of adhering to the safe load capacity of the container. Additionally, the Malaysian government has confirmed that the disciplinary measure of "cancelling the qualification of the tractor after three violations" mentioned in the association's announcement will be postponed until September 2025 to take effect.

According to this document, the conservative weight of the cargo can still be loaded at 27 tons..

巴生港口九月限重了怎么办？
一、关于 VGM限重25吨以内（VGM weight limit of 25,000kgs）的公告，是为马来拖车协会所发出，该协会并非政府部门，其通告目的是为约束其会员，但不具备对客户有约束效。拖车队应该按照排载单(CMO)给出的货物重量安排适合的卡车。
二、🇲🇾马来西亚政府部门仍执行当前限重规范，即在遵守集装箱安全承重基础上，最大承裁（maximum capacity）不超过38吨。此外，马来西亚政府部门已经确认关于拖车协会公告中提到“违规三次取消拖车资格”的惩戒措施已延后到2025年9月生效。

根据这份文件，保守重量货重还是可以按27tons 装的。
